Bigger screens, elevated processing, better sound, and WebOS enhancements highlight LG’s 2024 LCD-based QNED TV lineup.

LG QNED TV 2024 Lifestyle

CES 2024 is less than 2 weeks away and the eCoustics team will be in Las Vegas to bring you the latest in loudspeakers, soundbars, AVRs, headphones, and TVs. LG has a substantial lineup of new OLED as well as mid-range and high-end LCD-based TVs to unveil this year, which they refer to as QNED TV.

QNED TVs combine an LCD panel with LED backlighting, Quantum Dots, and LG’s Nanocell technologies

Select QNED models also include Mini LED backlighting with Precision Dimming technology for enhanced control of dark and bright objects on the screen. Non-mini LED QNED models also use local dimming technology but with standard LED backlighting. Although not as precise, the result is still good for many viewers.

Tip: Information on LG’s 2024 OLED TV line is still forthcoming.

LG’s QNED TV line includes the following series/models:

  • QNED99T (8K – QNED Mini-LED, offered in 86 and 75-inch screen sizes)
  • QNED90T (4K – QNED Mini-LED, offered in 86, 75, and 65-inch screen sizes)

  • QNED80T (4K – QNED – offered in 86, 75, 65, 55, 50, and 43-inch screen sizes)

Key Features

AI-Powered Performance: LG’s QNED99T series will be powered by LG’s top-of-line α9 AI Processor and the QNED90T and 85T will be powered by an updated α8 AI Processor. This provides a 1.3-fold increase in AI performance, a 2.3-fold enhancement in graphic performance, and a 1.6 times faster processing speed than the previous version. The QNED80T will use LG’s α5 AI Processor.

AI Picture Pro: This feature distinguishes faces, objects, and backgrounds within a scene, enriching the texture and fine details to present images with unparalleled realism.

Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro: This feature splits the picture into blocks and analyzes each in real-time to detect the darkest and brightest areas, elevating details with precise HDR optimization.

Personalized Picture Wizard: This feature enables users to further customize image quality by selecting a few preferred images from a given selection that are intelligently set up through deep learning.

WebOS: Just like other LG smart TVs, the QNED line incorporates the webOS smart TV platform – in this case WebOS 24. This provides access to abundant streaming content (including LG Channels) and voice control, as well as allowing users to create individual profiles to tailor the viewing experience to their preferences. The TVs can differentiate between voices based on user profiles and offer personalized recommendations by interpreting patterns from their comprehensive usage history.

Within WebOS, Dynamic Q Card provides fast and easy access to its services, with the customized organization into groups, such as Home Office, Home Hub, Sports, and Games.

LG WebOS Homescreen

Tip: LG 2024 QNED TVs also support Apple AirPlay and Chromecast for enhanced convenience in connectivity and compatibility with mobile devices.

Slim Profile: At only 29mm thick, LG’s 2024 QNED TVs are designed to blend into any space. The TVs can also be mounted on the wall, providing greater flexibility for furniture and appliance arrangement.

From Baik Seon-pill, head of the LG Home Entertainment Company’s Product Planning Division: “The LG 2024 LG QNED TV lineup takes the viewing experience to a whole new level with an advanced processor that enables outstanding audio-visual experiences across various screen sizes, while also providing a personalized user experience tailored to each individual’s unique lifestyle and preferences,…We remain committed to delivering an unparalleled customer experience, drawing upon our decade-long expertise with webOS.”
