LG Electronics Joins WHDI SIG; Leslie Chard Named President of WHDI LLC

CES, Las Vegas, Nev. — January 6, 2009 — WHDI LLC is pleased to announce that LG Electronics, Ltd. will be joining the WHDI SIG. Current members of the WHDI SIG are AMIMON Inc., Hitachi, Ltd., LG Electronics, Motorola Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Sharp Corporation and Sony Corporation.

The addition of LG Electronics to the special interest group builds on the momentum of the WHDI standard as the leader in multi-room wireless high-definition video, audio and device control connectivity.

As a promoter, LG will help shape and drive the WHDI standard, which will enable wireless streaming of HD video and audio between CE devices such as LCD and plasma HDTVs, multimedia projectors, A/V receivers, DVD and BD players, set-top boxes, game consoles, and PCs.

WHDI LLC is also pleased to announce that industry veteran Leslie Chard will serve as its president. Mr. Chard has lead similar initiatives, including HDMI and DVI. He previously served as president of HDMI Licensing, LLC where he was a key force in spearheading HDMI’s industry acceptance and mass adoption. Mr. Chard is a prominent technology industry figure who brings 20 years of experience to the development and promotion of the WHDI standard.

About the WHDI Standard

The WHDI standard is a comprehensive new industry standard for multi-room audio, video and control connectivity utilizing Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) technology. The new interoperable standard aims to ensure that CE devices manufactured by different vendors will simply and directly connect to one another. The WHDI standard is targeted for release in early 2009.
