In September 2022, LG unveiled its most innovative gaming monitor yet with the LX3 which featured a bendable 4K UHD OLED screen and both gaming and smart TV features.
The LX3 is still an active part of the LG’s line-up, but for 2023 they are adding another option for serious gamers, the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B dedicated gaming monitor.
What makes this entry different from the LX3 is that the smart TV features are stripped out and instead of a 42-inch 16×9 aspect ratio bendable OLED screen, the 49GR85DC-B has a 49-inch permanently curved ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio LED/LCD screen with Dual QHD resolution (5129×1440 pixels).
Tip: Read our article: WTF is Aspect Ratio?
The monitor has a virtually borderless, display design and LED Hexagon backlighting. Plus, one can easily make height, tilt, and swivel adjustments to the display to be able to see and play exactly to your preferences.
The 49GR85DC-B’s Gamer-Centric Design is designed to provide an immersive gaming experience.
Under The Hood
In addition to its physical design here is an overview of its “under-the-hood” features.
Picture in Picture/Picture by Picture: This feature provides Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) screen display. This allows users to configure the monitor to display content from two separate input sources. Play, watch, stream, or work from multiple input sources at the same time, on one screen.
Enhanced Gaming GUI: The onscreen interface provides access to several viewing modes that help to optimize the gameplay. Modes include Gamer, FPS (first-person shooter), or RTS (real-time strategy).
Dynamic Action Sync: Enables users to respond to the action in real-time with reduced input lag. The 49GR85DC-B has a 0.1 millisecond response time.
Black Stabilizer: This optimizes shadow detail so you can better see objects hidden in dark areas.
FPS Counter: Frames per second are displayed for real-time data.
Crosshair: Center-display crosshairs are included. This provides enhanced vision and pro-level precision for increased gameplay accuracy.,
VESA DisplayHDR™ 1000: This feature provides the capability to display impressive peak brightness and exceptional color and contrast for HDR gaming. HDR10 is also supported.
240Hz Refresh Rate: This provides a smooth display of fast motion. This allows you to respond quickly to opponents and stay a step ahead of the competition.
AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro: This provides access to a fluid, virtually tear-free gaming experience. With support for at least 1080p/120Hz and low latency gameplay.
DisplayPort or HDMI: With both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 (your choice depending on the source) you can experience up to 240Hz refresh rate at DQHD (Dual Quad HD) resolution.
DTS® Headphone:X: This feature provides accurate spatialization and localization in games for 3D audio over headphones. Supports channel-based, scene-based, and object-based audio.
4-pole Headphone Jack: In addition to DTS Headphone:X, the provided 4-pole headphone jack enables users to use a stereo headphone signal and mono microphone signal with common ground.
Tip: The 49GR85DC-B does not have built-in speakers.

Nice. As a fan of Todd AO and the owner of a 55 inch Samsung Curved UHDTV for several years now I can readily opine sans whine on the wonder and beauty of a Curved TV and moan their slow passing.
Apparently gamers enjoy them too. I envy them.
Thank you for the heads up!
