WOODBURY, NY — It’s the biggest rock and roll news in decades: Legendary rock group Cream, which electrified the music world in the Sixties with its powerful playing and inventive musicianship, is reuniting for four concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, in May 2005. In support of these landmark performances, JBL’s acclaimed VerTec (Vertical Technology) line-array professional audio loudspeakers have been chosen for use in the concert sound system.
Cream, comprising drummer Ginger Baker, bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce and guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, set new standards for musical virtuosity in rock music, and performed with a level of emotional intensity that has never been surpassed. In the 1960s, Cream established itself as one of the most influential rock bands of all time with classic songs such as “Sunshine of Your Love,” “White Room,” “Badge” and their definitive live version of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads.” Cream was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Cream will be playing at the Royal Albert Hall on May 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2005. The Royal Albert Hall has a long and rich history as one of the world’s most prestigious entertainment venues, and has hosted more than 150,000 performances and major events.
Paul Bente, president of JBL Consumer Products, noted: “JBL is extremely proud to be an important part of the upcoming Cream concerts, which are among the most anticipated in the history of rock music. Cream and JBL share a similar commitment to excellence — Cream as a group of gifted artists who take creative improvisation and musical passion to extraordinary heights, and JBL as the foremost supplier of high-quality loudspeakers for concert halls, recording studios, movie theaters and home listening. We look forward to bringing the Royal Albert Hall audiences an absolutely thrilling and unforgettable concert experience.”
