CES 2022 is underway and we love covering the really unique products that you might not hear about elsewhere. If your wallet can take the hit, L-Acoustics and C-SEED have something really interesting for the home theater fan this year.
I would have to sell at least two of my children to afford this system, but never say never.
Long known for bringing impeccable sound to venues of all sizes, from concert halls to the world’s top music festivals, the innovators at L-Acoustics are now bringing their expertise to more intimate settings, namely your home. In 2020, L-Acoustics Creations–a division of L-Acoustics devoted to home, architectural, and super yacht listening environments–debuted Island Prestige, a sumptuous sonic lounge with immersive 18.1 sound.
Austrian luxury home entertainment brand C SEED has been transforming the home theatre experience since 2013. C SEED offers high-end MicroLED screen technology in a large format TV which deftly rises from the ground and unfolds at the push of a button, making a spectacular entrance.
To herald the start of a new year and CES 2022, L-Acoustics Creations and C SEED announce their most exciting collaboration yet: Maunakea (pronounced MO-na-KEY-uh). Maunakea is an integrated pairing of the Island Prestige with the M1 TV by C SEED, which features a mammoth screen, elegant folding design, and pristine video quality. A celebration of sound and vision, Maunakea combines the very best in home entertainment tech.
At the heart of the Maunakea, Island Prestige is designed to be the ultimate personal auditorium experience, bringing concert-grade audio technology and visionary interior design into your home. Handcrafted in the L-Acoustics ateliers in France, Island Prestige delivers up to 24,000 watts and is equipped with eighteen professional audio speakers and two powerful subwoofers in the round to fully surround the listener with high-resolution sound that replicates human hearing perception.
Optional overhead speakers can be added to create a full-dome of sound, a heightened immersive experience. Island Prestige integrates with media streamers to play audio from any format, be it Dolby Atmos, Blu-ray, gaming platforms, or hi-res streaming services.
In redefining the home entertainment experience, Island Prestige has met its match in the M1 TV, the essential companion component in Maunakea. M1 is not only the world’s first unfolding TV; it performs while smashing boundaries in luxury AV technology.
Designer Stefan Pani created a sleek and modern frame that artfully animates into a sculpture-like column that silently rises from the floor and unfolds into a seamless five-paneled 165” screen.
“Separately, Island Prestige and M1 each represent superb and inimitable technological achievements,” comments C SEED Founder and Managing Partner Alexander Swatek. “But together? Maunakea is the latest evolution and true zenith of home entertainment, rivaling the experience of the movie industry’s top screening rooms.”
Something this custom clearly doesn’t come in one basic trim and if you’re looking for something to match your home decor, this system has very few limitations in that regard.
A perfect marriage of modern design and technology, Maunakea shines in luxury residential settings and super yachts. The system is a conversation piece that will delight all and bring countless hours of unforgettable entertainment. Naturally, each design can be customized to the owner’s preference with a variety of wood finishes, fabrics, and metallic finishings available.
Every Maunakea is a bespoke showstopper of a home cinema and multi-purpose media space.
“Maunakea,” explains Laurent Vaissié, CEO of L-Acoustics, “is named after a volcano in Hawaii, the world’s tallest peak as measured from its sea-floor base to summit—even taller than Mount Everest. In the same spirit, our latest product collaboration with C SEED affords new heights of modern elegance in luxury home entertainment systems. And just as most of Maunakea, the volcano, resides beneath the ocean surface, the technology offered by L-Acoustics Creations and C SEED remains cleverly concealed yet spectacular.”

They’ve taken a Hawaiian name of a mountain on the Big Island of Hawaii, and have prostituted it. The name Maunakea is not pronounced as Mona, it is Mao-na-k-uh
Nice, but only for the filthy rich.

Am I the only one who sees that image and thinks “Tony Montana” and his house in Miami?
It’s a very cool system, but priced well out of my reach.
