For 2013, JVC announced four car multimedia receivers that have been enhanced with features such as the App Link Mode with Extended Control for iPhone, improved Bluetooth function and Pandora Internet Radio Support for Android phones, all while delivering crisp graphics and full access to a range of entertainment options. Three head units will be a part of the regular multimedia series KW-AV61,KW-AV61BT, KW-AV71BT and one Arsenal high-end model KW-ADV65BT (pictured above) is also included in the lineup.
The JVC multimedia product line is also SiriusXM-Ready and is compatible with the SXV200 SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required). The SXV200 receives SiriusXM’s expanded commercial-free music, sports and comedy channel lineup as well as SiriusXM Latino, a suite of Spanish-language programming and is a compact solution that can be mounted behind the dashboard and connects directly to the receiver using one simple cable. It is also plug and play – there are no translators or tuner programming required.
App Link Mode (All models)
Continuing from the 2012 line, all in-dash multimedia receivers include App Link Mode, a feature which enhances the user experience of certain iPhone apps with live on-screen graphic display and music/audio playback through the vehicle’s speakers. Available for download in the Apple App store, a variety of compatible apps have been hand selected to enhance the driving experience including Navigation and Music Streaming apps. For 2013, JVC will be introducing even more compatible apps, which work with App Link including Navigation with POI Search, Music Streaming, Drive Recorder, and Vehicle Information Alerts, etc.
App Link Mode with Extended Control (All models)
For 2013, all four new multimedia receivers will be upgrading the App Link Mode feature to App Link Mode with Extended Control for iPhone devices connected via USB. This will enable the user to take advantage of additional functionality and control of their iPhone apps directly from the entire app interface shown the unit’s touch-screen display. Both App Link Mode and App Link Mode with Extended Control use the optional JVC KS-U30 video cable for iPhone/iPod.
SiriusXM-Ready (All Models)
Additionally, all four new models are SiriusXM-Ready and offer the capability of receiving SiriusXM’s commercial-free music, premier sports talk and live events, comedy, news, exclusive talk and entertainment, and SiriusXM Latino, the most comprehensive Latin music, sports and talk programming in radio. KW-AV61BT
Expanded Bluetooth Function (KW-AV61BT, KW-AV71BT, and KW-ADV65BT)
For 2013, Bluetooth connectivity is built-in to all four AV multimedia receivers for a safer and more in-sync driving experience. An on-screen voice command button allows for voice dialing activation with the ability to automatically detect the voice recognition on smart phones. In addition, manual echo cancellation and microphone level adjustments provide the user with more control over variable situations. Android devices will also be able to control Pandora Internet Radio through wireless commands such as play/pause, fast forward, rewind, etc.
Similarly, Bluetooth connectivity with all Bluetooth supported models will allow for simple pairing of up to five compatible devices, voice dialing and audio streaming with play/pause, fast forward, and rewind features.
Pandora Internet Radio (All Models)
Available in all new 2013 models are integrated with Pandora Internet Radio, which works with the iPhone via USB connection. With simple controls from the head unit to allow the user to forward skip, Pause/Play, Search Station, Artist and Song Title are all shown on-screen to replicate key Pandora functions. Android users will be able to take advantage of Pandora Internet Radio with the new built-in Bluetooth Models KW-AV61BT, KW-AV71BT, and KW-ADV65BT through a Bluetooth connection while still being able to utilize the main controls through the head unit. Full functionality is available when the phone is connected, as well as on-screen album art and song/artist information display.
All models are compatible with JVC’s existing $49.95 KS-U30 add on video playback adapter for iPod/iPhone (excludes iPhone 5) which allows iPod video content to be displayed on screen. The KS-U30 also displays content on-screen from some other iPhone applications such as YouTube and Netflix. This cable is required to utilize the App link mode function.
KW-AV71BT
The KW-AV71BT receiver features a 7-inch WVGA motorized widescreen touch panel display with proximity sensor and detachable face. The unit includes built-in Bluetooth wireless technology including phonebook transfer, hands-free, audio streaming, voice recognition dialing and alphabetical search for phonebook. The receiver includes a 1A current capable USB power supply with drive-change mode for smartphones and a front SDHC/SD slot, as well as dual zone features. It is WAV/MP3/WMA compatible, and features a 3-band parametric iEQ, MOS-FET 50-watts x 4, three sets of 4V pre-outs, line input terminals, and is steering wheel remote control ready.
The KW-ADV65BT DVD/CD/USB receiver features a fully detachable 6.1-inch WVGA display, Built-in Bluetooth Wireless Technology, a rear USB port with 2-way iPod control, and is WAV/MP3/WMA compatible. The unit also features MOS-FET 50-watts x 4, Front/Rear/Subwoofer 4 Volt line outputs, wireless remote control, and two year manufacturer’s warranty.
The KW-AV61BT Double-DIN AV multimedia receiver includes these features but carries a one-year warranty and Front/Rear/Subwoofer 4 Volt Line Outputs.
KW-AV61
The KW-AV61 DVD/CD/USB, which features a fully detachable 6.1-inch WVGA, display, a 1A power supply USB port including drive change mode, and compatibility with App Link Mode for iPhone connection. The KW-AV61 is both Satellite and Bluetooth Ready and is WAV/MP3/WMA compatible. The unit also features MOS-FET 50-watts x 4, and Front/Rear/Subwoofer 4 Volt Line Outputs.
