Best Buy and Amazon have extended their collaboration on 2021 budget-priced 4K TVs with the introduction of the Insignia F50 Series. There are four new models which range in size from 50 to 70 inches, priced from $599 to $899, respectively.
Insignia is Best Buy’s house brand, which is believed to be manufactured in China. They’re called Fire TVs because they integrate Amazon’s Smart TV streaming services on the home screen along with Alexa voice control. If you’re a Prime Member that makes total sense, but why does Best Buy care?
As part of their agreement, Amazon will also sell Insignia TVs online with an in-store pickup option. Increasing in-store traffic is Best Buy’s goal, which can typically lead to additional purchases — cables, accessories, etc.
The buy online, pickup in-store option helps customers get a TV without any shipping delays — supposedly within an hour if your local Best Buy has it in-stock. Perhaps that not only saves time, but your eyes from staring into a wall of TVs with brightness nearing that of the sun. Of course, that also means bringing your own muscle and an over-sized vehicle.
The Insignia F50 Series Fire TV uses quantum dot technology in 4K Ultra HD for vibrant, true-to-life images with rich subtle details. Delivering an immersive home theater experience, the TVs feature Dolby Vision HDR to contrast bright highlights with dark shadows to showcase subtle details, and DTS Virtual-X speaker technology to deliver three-dimensional sound. The displays have a narrow bezel for optimal video playback for living room entertainment.
Insignia Fire TVs come with the latest Fire TV experience for content-first and customized entertainment with Alexa at the core. The included Voice Remote with Alexa allows customers to get all of the benefits of Alexa, plus the ability to launch apps, switch inputs, and control smart home devices, with simple voice commands. Press and hold the voice button and ask Alexa to search for favorite movies, TV shows, or directors; start a live TV program; discover new recipes; check stocks; and more.
The Insignia F50 Series QLED 4K Fire TV will be available at Best Buy stores and online, as well as from Amazon.com later this summer.

They’ve been out for two months. Any plans to review one?

Chris,
If we can get our hands on one — yes.
Insignia isn’t great on the communication side and it’s hard to get their products to review.
