— High-Performance TAS-1000 Package Combines Acclaimed TSS-750 5.1 Loudspeaker System With Integrated DVD Player/Receiver —
8 January 2004
WOODBURY, NY — At CES 2004, Infinity Systems is significantly expanding its position as a home entertainment solutions provider with the introduction of its first complete home theater audio package, the TAS-1000 Total Audio Solutions system.
The TAS-1000 builds upon the success of Infinity’s acclaimed TSS-750 5.1-channel loudspeaker system with the addition to the package of a high-performance combination DVD/receiver to create an integrated home theater solution that combines superlative sound quality with elegant, unified design and total ease of operation.
Eli Harary, Infinity vice president of sales and marketing, noted: “The TAS-1000 extends the Infinity heritage of technological innovation, superior performance and design excellence into an exciting new product category for the company. With the introduction of the TAS-1000, Infinity is answering the growing consumer demand for an attractively styled, complete home theater audio system that is easy to set up and enjoy, yet provides exceptional performance.”
Total Home Theater Audio With the Infinity Loudspeaker Advantage
The TSS-750 loudspeaker system used in the TAS-1000 incorporates Infinity’s exclusive Metal Matrix Diaphragm (MMD) driver technology to deliver clear, detailed, musically accurate sound quality. The TAS-750 includes four two-way satellites, each featuring a 3-1/2-inch MMD midrange/woofer and 3/4-inch MMD tweeter; a dedicated center channel speaker (dual 3-1/2-inch MMD midrange/woofers, 3/4-inch MMD tweeter); and a vertically oriented, side-firing powered subwoofer, employing a 10-inch MMD woofer and a built-in 150-watt amplifier.
Derived from the company’s patented Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD) technology, MMD drivers offer significantly improved performance compared to those made of conventional cone materials. MMD driver cones are manufactured by anodizing both sides of an aluminum core to a controlled thickness, producing low-mass, highly rigid driver diaphragms that operate with greatly reduced distortion, along with outstanding transient response, resolution and smoothness.
The distinctively contoured satellites and center channel feature enclosures constructed of extruded and anodized brushed aluminum in a striking platinum finish with matching grilles — giving them an elegant, stylish appearance with a direct design connection to the company’s flagship Prelude MTS. In addition, the enclosures are acoustically inert to keep unwanted internal resonances at a minimum and provide significant sonic advantages.
The center channel loudspeaker is optimized for maximum dialogue intelligibility, and accurate localization of sound to coincide with the on-screen image, and the TAS-750 loudspeakers all employ Infinity’s room-friendly acoustical design principles, which ensure they will provide sonically accurate performance in the widest variety of listening environments and placement positions.
Offering outstanding installation flexibility, the satellites can be placed freestanding on a shelf, or mounted on a wall using their innovative swivel wall-mount-bracket system. Optional matching floor stands are also available. The center channel loudspeaker is supplied with a base for mounting atop a TV set or shelf, enabling the center channel to be adjusted toward the listeners.
The DVD/Receiver: A Flexible, Full-Featured Entertainment Control Center
The TAS-1000’s combination DVD/receiver is a full-function audio/video system control center that combines a progressive scan DVD-Audio/Video player with a high-performance 5.1-channel receiver section. Its distinctive, high-tech styling perfectly complements the TSS-750 loudspeakers to create an elegant, unified appearance for the entire system.
The DVD/receiver delivers 5 x 50 watts power output, and incorporates a premium DSP processor and 24-bit, 192kHz audio D/A converters to provide high-resolution, dynamic multichannel sound with an expansive, 360-degree sound field. It is compatible with all popular 5.1-channel surround sound formats such as Dolby* Digital, Dolby Pro Logic* IIx and DTS 5.1, and includes comprehensive sound tailoring and bass-management facilities. The DVD/receiver is a versatile digital audio/video source component that provides compatible playback of DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD and CD-R/RW discs, as well as MP3-encoded CDs and Windows Media Audio (WMA) discs. In addition, it is compatible with JPEG still-image files stored on CD-R/RW discs.
The DVD/receiver is designed for complete ease of operation, and requires only minimal user setup. All functions can be readily accessed using the supplied system remote and streamlined on-screen menus, and key functions are preconfigured out of the box to anticipate the way most consumers will use the TAS-1000. The remote can be programmed to operate TV sets and components such as cable boxes, satellite receivers and VCRs, providing control of an entire home entertainment system.
The Infinity TAS-1000 Total Audio Solutions system will begin shipping in spring 2004 at a suggested retail price of $1,099.
