HAI Home Theater Extender Adds IR Capability

Includes Over 300,000 IR Codes

HAI, leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, has announced that it is expanding its Home Entertainment product line to include the HAI Home Theater Extender (HAI Product number 86A00-1). HAI Home Theater Extender (HTE) allows full infrared (IR) and serial AV component control from an OmniTouch Portable or an OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen.

The HAI Home Theater Extender allows Touchscreen control of your complete home theater, TV and other entertainment components. It includes inputs that can be used with current and/or voltage sensors to help determine whether the equipment is currently in the “on” or “off” state.

The HAI IR database includes over 300,000 IR codes with the ability to “learn-in” any additional codes. HAI Automation Studio software allows you to integrate the HAI OmniTouch Portable and OmniTouch 5.7e and coordinate both HAI automation functions and IR controls. This allows homeowners to press one button to turn on the DVD player, play the DVD, dim the lights, close the window coverings, and set the entire house to desired levels for a complete entertainment experience. Additionally, HAI OmniPro II, Omni IIe, Lumina Pro, and Lumina home controllers can instruct the entertainment components to function based upon time, motion, or other events happening within the home.

HAI Home Theater Extender is connected to HAI Touchscreens and controllers through a standard Ethernet Switch using Cat5 wiring. It can be powered by a POE (Power Over Ethernet) switch or by the included wall adapter. The HTE includes four infrared outputs, one RS-232, two relays, and two general purpose input/outputs. The compact size (4.5″ x 5″ x 1″) allows it to be shelf, wall or rack-mounted and placed discreetly out of sight.

The HTE can also be used in international applications to control split system air conditioning and heating units via IR control. It can learn the IR signals from the split system’s remote and send commands to it, allowing remote control of the temperature, fan speed and air direction.

HAI’s Home Theater Extender is expected to ship in the 2nd Quarter of 2009. To download a high resolution photo of HAI’s Home Theater Extender, please click here.

HAI will demonstrate the new Home Theater Extender in Booth 1312 at the Electronic House Expo in Orlando, FL, March 12 — 14, 2009.
