Gefen Upgrades Two KVM Extenders for Digital Displays

WOODLAND HLLS, CA – April 26, 2005 – Two new KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) extenders from Gefen support digital video displays equipped with DVI plus companion peripherals in addition to the standard keyboard and mouse.

Gefen’s new CAT5-1000 HD and CAT5-7000 HD use a sender and receiver methodology connected by cost-effective CAT-5 cables to link the computer to its remote peripherals.

The CAT5-1000 HD supports the extension of one DVI display and USB up to 150 feet from the computer using just one CAT-5 cable.

The CAT5-7000 HD supports the extension of two DVI displays, USB, PS/2, RS-232 and audio plus a microphone up to 150 feet using multiple CAT-5 cables.

“Extending computer equipment beyond the format specifications requires an extension method that will guarantee remote performance, especially with digital video display’s higher resolutions,” said Hagai Gefen, president. “Our upgraded CAT-5 KVM extenders ensure digital video retains its clarity
and the accompanying peripherals perform remotely with just as much speed as if connected locally.”

Gefen’s upgraded KVM extenders offer a method of extending the workspace away from the computer without networking. The plug and play system takes minutes to install and requires one 5VDC power supply to feed the system, which can be connected at either end.

The CAT5-1000 HD (http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=2574) is currently available for purchase online at www.gefen.com or through a Gefen reseller.

The CAT5-7000 HD (http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=2799) is available for pre-order.
