If you’ve been lucky enough to attend AXPONA or T.H.E. Show 2024 this year, you might have listened to Final Electrostatic Loudspeakers (ESL) for the first time in many years.
Astute audiophiles may recall Final Sound from the Netherlands debuted their first electrostatic loudspeakers in 1991 and were quite successful through the 90s and early 2000s. In 2004, they were acquired by Philips, but by 2012 Final’s electrostats were no longer available in the U.S. and it seemed like they would be forgotten. Then in 2015 the original founders resurrected the company with all-new products, completely redesigned from the ground up, to solve the weaknesses of traditional electrostatic loudspeaker designs with patented technical innovations.
The company, now renamed as Final Audio, is operating from the Netherlands and actively pursuing sales in global markets. Ravi Velnati of HighResHiFi LLC has been named Final Audio’s exclusive U.S. distributor. Ravi is a career Automotive Product Development Engineering Professional and an enthusiastic lifelong planar electrostatic audiophile, responsible for launching, growing, and supporting Final Audio in the U.S. market.
All models are currently being offered at special distributor-direct pricing. That means customers may be able to get the best possible price right now because there is no dealer markup since there are no dealers.
However, if you want to hear Final Electrostatic Loudspeakers you’ll need to attend an upcoming hi-fi show or contact Ravi for in-home demos — especially if you’re near Phoenix, Arizona.
Be on the lookout for Final Audio at Capital Audiofest at the Hilton Rockville, Rockville Maryland from November 8-10, 2024 and T.H.E. Show in Las Vegas from January 10-12, 2025.
What are the models?
There are a total of 14 models, of which 12 are tall floorstanders for stereo listening. Among that group there are full range panels and hybrid models with attached subwoofers in active or passive configurations.
In addition, there are 2 shorter panels which could complete a home theater using a dedicated horizontal center channel and vertical surround/height speaker panels. That’s right, a customer can configure a unique all-electrostatic Dolby Atmos speaker system, which includes flexible wall mountable height speakers.
