UNION CITY, CA — April 21, 2005 — Attendees to this year’s Home Entertainment Show in New York City who want an inside look at the future of high-definition television will find it at the HDTV Super Session. The Session will bring together a panel of industry experts to share impressions of the current state of HD entertainment, and predictions for its coming developments. Sam Runco, founder and CEO of home theater display manufacturer Runco International, will be one of the featured panelists. He has been an innovator in the video display business since the early 1970’s and has helped set the quality standard for HDTV technology. Runco International was the first company to coin the term `home theater,` and has been responsible for many technological innovations and industry firsts.
Mr. Runco, whose company has introduced nine new products in 2005, including a brand new Runco Crystal Series LCD TV family, will offer his insights on the changing role of home video products. “The Home Entertainment Show demonstrates how high-end video converges with other home technologies,” Mr. Runco said. “This convergence is clearly evident as manufacturers continue to develop digital-based products that readily interface with one another. We’ve always made connectivity a priority in building our displays, and now we’re seeing a similar trend with vendors in a wider range of applications.”
The HDTV Super Session will focus on the latest developments in the art and science of video transmission, from Standard-Definition to High-Definition Television. The panel, which will include HDTV manufacturers, and other industry luminaries, is hosted by Home Theater magazine and will answer questions on the issues influencing the evolution of these media. Runco added: “The success of our products depends in part on the advances made by manufacturers of complementary technologies. At Runco, we say our mission is ‘Bringing Hollywood Home.’ To create the most immersive cinematic experience for our customers, it’s essential that we understand the direction and potential of the technologies that support our displays. The HE Show is about realizing our common goals on a practical level.”
Show attendees who want to get a firsthand look at why Runco is esteemed as the world-leader in high-definition displays can visit the New York Hilton’s Nassau Room A during the Home Entertainment Show to experience the latest revolution in home cinema entertainment. Exhibiting alongside Kaleidescape, Runco will demonstrate the Video Xtreme VX-2c 3-chip DLP projector. The VX-2c is one of the first Runco projectors available with exclusive CineWide with AutoScope technology. This “Runco first” allows the projector to utilize every pixel in its light processing engine and switch from stunning HDTV to the CinemaScope 2.35:1 aspect ratio with maximum brightness and detail–and no distracting black bars! In addition, Runco’s PlasmaView PL-61DHD 61-inch flat-panel plasma display can be seen in action at the Dolby Laboratories room (Suite 210).
The 2005 Home Entertainment Show will take place at the New York Hilton in Manhattan from April 28 — May 1. The HDTV Super Session is scheduled for Friday, April 29th from 2:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. For more information, please visit www.homeentertainment-expo.com < http://www.homeentertainment-expo.com/> .
