Orlando, Florida (February 26, 2006) — Setting itself apart from the competition, Kata continuously sets new benchmarks for quality year after year, launching revolutionary ground-breaking designs and advancements to its distinguished line of carrying solutions for photography and video. Again, keeping itself ahead of the ever evolving digital arena, Kata is proud to announce the latest additions to its well-known Global Digital Collection (GDC), and along with Bogen Imaging, will showcase its new bags, cases and packs at this year’s PMA.
From their ergonomic design to the vibrant, scratch and static resistant ‘yelloop’ internal fabric, the GDC line stands out from their less ardent crowd of competitors and has redefined the market of protective carrying solutions. Like all Kata products, the GDC line is about much more than just an attractive and aesthetically pleasing design. These products are above-all a protective solution, enhanced by Kata’s unique Thermo-Shield-Technology (TST). TST is a state-of-the-art design that provides the ultimate protection in an extremely lightweight package. The outer shell of the TST is thermo formed in a protective “rib shape” construction, and made from a Mil-Std, double cord Super Nylon to protect expensive photo gear from water, dust and a host of other potentially damaging elements. Beneath that is a cross-linked, closed cell PE + EVA shield that shelters sensitive equipment from shock and impact, while also insulating it from extreme temperatures and moisture. The GDC collection is available exclusively in the U.S. through Bogen Imaging and features a modular design that allows for an infinite range of custom made protective carrying solutions to meet every desire.
New Reporter Shoulder Bags
New at PMA 2006 are the SB-902 and SB-907, the latest additions to Kata’s well known Reporter Shoulder Bag collection. Designed to meet the needs of the photographer on-the-go, Kata’s Reporter Shoulder Bags are easy to carry, extremely modular and provide adequate protection for a wide variety of photo and video equipment. The bags’ unique design allows each individual the freedom of arranging the perfect carrying solution for any desired working mode. With the internal padding kits, dividers and removable reinforced bottom flooring, you’re able to define the rigidity and flexibility of the case. The semi-rigid TST front pockets and large external side pockets ensure ample storage space for any additional items.
The SB-907 is the largest of the Reporter Shoulder Bag collection and features ample room for 2-3 D/SLR bodies, plus 6-8 lenses (up to 300mm) and accessories. The SB-907 is also large enough to be configured to fit a DV camcorder, including the Sony FX1, Panasonic HVX200 and JVC DV300 and features an individual compartment for a laptop. The SB-902 is the smallest of the Reporter Shoulder Bag series, yet is large enough to accommodate up to 2 D/SLR bodies, 2-3 lenses and accessories and can also be configured to fit many of today’s popular Mini DV camcorders.
Each Reporter Shoulder Bag features Kata’s advanced triple opening system engineered to allow unlimited access to the bag in any scenario and boasts a variety of carrying options including reinforced rigid handles, shoulder straps and an Insertrolley option. Remarkably lightweight, the HB-205 features a sophisticated harness system allows maximum control of all features including shoulder straps, adjustable waist belt and lumbar pad which guarantees a perfect fit for all users. The HB-205 sports two soft TST open side pockets perfect for carrying water bottles, tripods and more, and features an additional array of pockets that together provide the ultimate carrying and protecting solution for photographers and videographers. The HB-205 provides ample room to accommodate 2-3 D/SLR bodies with up to 8 lenses (up to 400mm) and accessories or a DV camcorder, such as the Sony FX1 and Panasonic DVX100.
New Waist Shoulder Bag
Designed to help the user essentially “shoot from the hip,” Kata’s new WS-606 offers users the ability to access everything they need without having to take the bag off their shoulder. Kata’s WS-606 Waist Shoulder Bag opens away from the body, allowing the user an unobstructed view of the compartment and is contoured for a closer to the body center of gravity. In addition, the WS-606 features a hip pad for added comfort and a removable concealed hip belt if needed for extra support. The TST safeguarded bags also come with Kata’s Modi-Vers dividers that allow the user the freedom to design the main compartment to their specific needs. The largest of the Waist Shoulder Bags, WS-606 can accommodate 2-4 D/SLR bodies, 6-10 lenses and accessories or can be configured to fit DV cams such as the Sony FX1, Panasonic HVX200 and JVC DV300.
New Torso Pack
Designed to keep a D/SLR or camcorder in quick draw position, Kata’s new T-214 is the latest addition to its popular Torso Pack collection. The T-214 is uniquely designed, allowing the shooter to carry the bag up front or on the back and giving them the ability to change the position on-the-go. The T-214 features an easy-to-open lid, secured by a wide “hook & loop” fastener and side release buckle. One quick pull allows for a full opening of the parallel zipper set, giving the user full, top access to the camera. The T-214 boasts external pockets for personal effects and features a main compartment divided in a way that allows the shooter to store his or her camera in top grip position (lens down), while below the body users can store and protect additional lenses or accessories.
New Organizer Cases
Rugged and sleek, the new OC-82 and OC-84 are two new organizer cases designed to be a workhorse for today’s professional photographers. With TST technology on the front and honeycomb reinforcement around the edge, these cases provide ultimate protection for the equipment inside. Each case features a shallow compartment for a laptop or paperwork, a full-sized compartment for photographic equipment, and a large, padded, external pocket. The OC-82 and OC-84 are also supplied with ample modular dividers that allow users to create a custom fit to meet their exact requirements. Both cases come equipped with fortified, padded handles, a BSS shoulder strap designed for carrying flexibility and are compatible with Kata’s Insertrolley system. The OC-82 will fit 1-2 D/SLR bodies, 3-4 lenses and accessories, or can be configured for use with a matte box and filters or as a lighting bag for a small lighting kit. The larger OC-84 can store and carry 2-4 D/SLR bodies, 6-8 lenses and accessories or a medium format kit. Like the OC-82, the OC-84 can also be used with a small lighting kit.
