Following the release of its LS12000 flagship Pro Cinema UHD Laser projector earlier in 2022, Epson has announced the release of the Home Cinema LS11000. A lot of the features are the same, including the lens construction, light engine, and image processing, but the price tag is $1,000 less ($4,999.99 vs $3,999.99).
Some of the things included on the LS12000 but not included on the LS11000 are a ceiling-mount, anamorphic add-on lens option, rear cable cover, ISF calibration settings, slightly more light output, and a wider contrast ratio.
Also, Epson ProCinema Line Projectors require professional installation and Home Cinema projectors can be purchased through Epson or local authorized retailers for self-setup. Pro Cinema projectors are offered with a black finish and Home Cinema projectors are offered with a white finish.
That being said, if you are looking for a big-screen home theater experience, the Epson Home Cinema LS11000 UHD laser projector may be more than enough to fulfill your needs.
Inside the Epson Home Cinema LS11000
Here is a rundown of the key features and specifications of the Epson LS11000.
- Tip: Just as the LS12000, the LS11000 does not include any “smart features” such as built-in WiFi, streaming platform and apps, Airplay 2, or Bluetooth.
Projector Placement Options: The LS11000 can be placed in several locations in relation to the screen including the front, front ceiling, rear, and rear ceiling.
Resolution: 4 UHD via Pro UHD Advanced Pixel Shifting using “precision shift glass plate technology”. This means that the projector incorporates three 1080p resolution LCD chips (red, green, and blue). Epson’s glass plate system is then used to shift the pixels rapidly so that visually a 4K UHD image is displayed.
Light Source: The LS11000 has a Laser/Phosphor light source. This means that a blue laser array is used in combination with a fixed yellow phosphor, dichroic mirrors, and color filters to create the needed red, green, and blue primary colors, which are then blended to create full-color images.
Laser Light Source Life: 20,000 use hours
White Brightness: 2,500 ANSI Lumens
Color Brightness: 2,500 CLO Lumens
Video Processing: The LS11000 incorporates the Epson ZX Processor. This provides optimized color, contrast, HDR, frame interpolation, and resolution enhancement in real-time to present the source material in the best possible manner.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) Support: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG. Real-time HDR curve adjustment allows for 16 steps of control to fine-tune the HDR performance regardless of the content.
Tip: What you need to know about HDR in video projectors.
Preset Color/Picture Modes: Dynamic, Vivid, Bright Cinema, Cinema, Natural
Refresh Rate: 120 Hz Refresh Rate (including 4K/120Hz). Frame interpolation is performed for sources below 120Hz.
Lens: The Epson VRX Cinema Lens has a proprietary zero light leakage 15-element precision glass structure for image clarity and edge-to-edge focus uniformity.
Viewable Image Size Range: Depending on the throw distance the LS 11000 can project image sizes from 50 to 300 inches.
Throw Distance: 4.9 feet to 62.4 feet. The throw distance is the distance range between the projector and the image on the screen (i.e., the distance that the image is “thrown”).
Keystone (Digital): Horizontal and Vertical +/- 30 degrees.
Lens Shift: The LS11000 has a 3-Axis motorized lens shift. This provides Horizontal +/- 47%, Vertical +/1 96% lens positioning without moving the projector or causing image shape distortion from excessive Keystone Correction. This is practical if the projector can’t be mounted directly in front of the screen.
Zoom/Focus: Motorized Zoom (2.1x)
Fan Noise: 22 – 30 dB. This is fairly quiet for a large video projector.
Control: The LS11000 comes with a wireless remote (the same one that is also provided for the LS12000) and control buttons on the rear panel of the projector.
Projector Size (WxDxH): 20.5 x 17.6 x 7.6-inches
Projector Weight: 28 pounds
Connections
Here are the connections provided with the LS11000.
HDMI (ver 2.1): 2, one of which supports eARC/ARC. Full 48 Gbps bandwidth support is provided. 4K/120 Hz is also supported, along with input lag times below 20 ms. This projector is a great match for gamers.
Tip: The LS11000 doesn’t have a built-in speaker system, but will pass audio from HDMI-connected devices via HDMI-ARC/eARC to a compatible soundbar or another type of external audio system.
USB Type-A: (1) This can be used to power an optical HDMI cable (up to 300 mA) if needed and if the cable provides this option.
USB Type-A: (1) for 5 V, 2.0 A for power (such as charging compatible devices), and firmware updating.
Mini USB: (1) (for service only)
Trigger Out: (1) This provides On, Off control (12 V DC, 200 mA maximum)
Ethernet/LAN RJ45: 1
RS-232C: 1 for wired control.
