Emenda Joins Forces With Protecode

Emenda, the European software testing tools and services provider, today announced a partnership with Protecode Inc., the Canadian-based innovator of Intellectual Property (IP) management solutions for software projects incorporating open source and third party code.

With increasing pressure to improve productivity and efficiency, developers often rely on existing code in software projects. However, any product using pre-existing code may infringe on the IP licenses and the copyrights of the person or organization that originally developed that code. Protecode’s range of solutions allows organizations to properly manage their software IP and legal obligations. Through one-time, periodic or continuous real-time software IP governance, Protecode’s solutions detect, identify, record and report on all the IP and copyright attributes of any software repository. This removes the need for developers to interpret the complexities of software licensing.

“Access to fast and effective software governance tools and auditing services should be a priority issue for software executives as they strive for more cost-efficient software development through outsourcing and use of open source software,” said Mahshad Koohgoli, CEO, Protecode. “Emenda’s European-wide expertise, its strong customer base, the extent of its product portfolio and the quality of its consultancy services were the determining factors for a partnership with Protecode.”

With its strong customer base and expertise in the software development industry, Emenda will distribute and provide support for Protecode throughout Europe. As a solution aimed at speeding up the software development process, Protecode will complement the software testing tools already in the Emenda product portfolio, which includes Klocwork Insight, Cantata++, Lattix, Codenomicon Defensics and Electric Cloud.

Emenda CEO Neil Langmead said of the partnership, “We are really pleased to announce our association with Protecode. At Emenda, we are committed to helping our customers reduce the time it takes to build and test their software, therefore enabling them to concentrate on improving software quality. By automating the management of IP rights within the build environment, Protecode will help our customers concentrate on developing software whilst ensuring they comply with any relevant license agreements.”
