Two Products From
ELAN Home Systems’
Named as Finalists for Resi Awards

Residential Systems Magazine Recognizes D1650 Digital Amplifier and System12 Multi-Zone A/V Controller as Among the Industry’s Best

LEXINGTON, KY — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home automation systems, announced today that two of it’s products, the D1650 and the System12, have been honored by Residential Systems Magazine as finalists for Resi Awards. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

The Resi Awards honor the most innovative product designs in the custom installation industry. Each year, an esteemed panel of custom installers and industrial designers judge entries on their aesthetic appeal, ergonomic design, and installability.

“We are honored to have two of our products nominated in the same year for such a prestigious award,” said Mr. Farinelli. “To be named as a finalist in an industry award program that is ultimately determined by installers and industrial designers is particularly exciting for us and further validates our commitment to developing products that represent the best in quality and design.”

The judges have recognized three Resi Awards finalists in each of the contest’s 13 product categories. The thirteen category winners will be announced at the 2005 Resi Awards reception, held at 5 p.m. during CEDIA EXPO in Indianapolis, IN, September 8, 2005, in Room 146 of the Indiana Convention Center.

“This year’s Resi finalists once again demonstrate the importance of sophisticated designs for today’s home electronics,” said Jeremy Glowacki, editor of Residential Systems. “All of this year’s finalists combine innovative engineering with elegant design, offering custom installers with products that surpass the aesthetic and performance needs of their demanding clients. We are happy to recognize ELAN Home Systems as a company that develops such products with these two Resi finalist nods.”

Named as a finalist in the “Source Component or Power Amp” category, the D1650 is the second all-digital amplifier in the ELAN D Series, which as of September 2005, will consist of three models. The D1650 features 16-channels of amplification, Class-T digital technology and 900+ watts of power at an 85-percent efficiency rating, and can simultaneously deliver 60 watts at 4 Ohms to each of its channels. Clean, cool, cost effective and small in size, yet big in power, the D1650 can drive up to eight pairs of stereo speakers, 16 mono speakers or any combination of the two. And, because it is stable down to 4 Ohms, multiple speakers can be connected to each channel without the need for impedance-matching volume controls. The D1650 has far more power and channels, yet emits less heat than traditional amplifiers. The D1650 carries a MSRP of $2,199.00 and comes with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty. The unit is also available in a rack mount version with handles (D1651) at a MSRP of $2,249.00.

Named as a finalist in the “A/V Controller/Receiver” category, ELAN’s System12 (S12) Multi-room, Multi-zone Audio/Video Controller features maximum inputs for the price point available on the market today. This innovative product can accommodate 12 audio source inputs, 16 video source inputs, and eight listening and 16 viewing zones. The S12’s features include plug-and-play video routing and a 16 X 16 matrix video switch which allows consumers to route up to 16 video feeds to any television, monitor or touch panel in the home. ELAN’s S12 also allows users to distribute up to 12 A/V sources (plus four extra video sources) into eight zones and is fully RS-232 controllable. Designed to be a flexible controller, the S12 can be easily configured to handle medium to large-scale projects. As an added highlight, the D1650 Digital Power Amplifier, serves as a companion piece for the S12 and allows for even higher-quality, stereo audio to S12’s eight zones. The System12 carries a MSRP of $5,600.00. A rack-mount version is available for $5,650.00.
