LAS VEGAS – DWIN Electronics, Inc. has developed a new DVI cable extender capable of delivering uncompressed high definition video signals up to 100 feet. The new accessory works with DWIN’s TransVision 3+ high definition video projectors and DWIN’s new HD-Series plasmas.
DWIN will display the technology at the 2005 CES show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 20656 — South Hall 1, LVCC.
Suggested retail price for the DWIN DVI Cable Extender is $245. When combined with the required DWIN-proprietary DVI cables, the system is competitive with fiber optic-based cable for similar lengths.
The DVI Cable Extender is designed primarily to respond to the needs of custom installers to enable multi-room high definition video systems beyond the reach of conventional DVI cables. Installation is flexible and easy: power is supplied by the DVI cable itself and requires no external power supply.
With DWIN’s proprietary ¾-inch circular DVI connectors, DVI cables can be easily pulled through standard one-inch conduit. Cable distances of up to 100-feet are possible using two DWIN 50-foot DVI-R cables.
The DVI Cable Extender was developed to support DWIN’s new DuoVision dual-display high definition processor. DuoVision enables two separate high definition video displays to share video gear from one central location in the home. Integrating two DWIN native-rate processor/scalers, the DuoVision controller simplifies installation of multi-room high definition systems and helps consumers avoid the added expense of separate HD video source devices.
