Internal Navigation, iPod Connectivity and Bluetooth Highlight Breakthrough Combination of Innovation and Value
Dual Electronics today announced it is shipping a new double-DIN head unit that combines the latest in communications, connectivity and user convenience, at a price-point that puts today’s most powerful mobile technologies in the hands of virtually any consumer.
Dual’s new 300-watt XDVDN8290 ($1,199.99) multimedia head unit offers entertainment and information capabilities that rival the most costly factory-installed systems, but at a fraction of the price. The XDVDN8290 features a generously sized 6.5″ LCD monitor with powerful touch-command centers for integrated navigation, music and video playback, as well as Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls. Additionally, the monitor provides a convenient, simple interface for complete iPod control, with metadata for track, title and artist Ids displayed on the large, bright screen.
The internal navigation system featured in the XDVDN8290 provides all the benefits of the latest technology updates, but at a fraction of the price of similar products. Without having to use add-on boxes or cables, consumers can access over 10 million points of interest that are stored on a single 2GB SD card (included), with seamless maps of the United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico), as well as Canada. Directions are announced in a clear “voice,” in a choice of English, Spanish, or French.
The same touchscreen that operates the navigation functions also serves as the user interface for placing or receiving calls from most Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. A built-in microphone allows for hands-free operation, and the screen conveniently shows caller ID information.
“Today’s automotive environment can be the center of entertainment and communications,” said Robb Groner, Vice President of Product Development, Dual Electronics Corp. “People are comfortable with Bluetooth phones, iPods and DVDs, and navigation systems are fast becoming a necessity for anyone behind the wheel. With the XDVDN8290, we set out to offer a top-of-the-line model that brings these functions together, in a way that’s simple to operate, and very accessible for the mass market consumer.”
In addition to the XDVDN8290, Dual announced that it will soon ship the single-DIN 240-watt XDVDN8190, scheduled for delivery in July. The XDVDN8190 is highlighted by a motorized 7″ LCD monitor and virtually the same feature set as the double-DIN model.
Dual Electronics’ mobile multimedia head units are available at national chain retailers and select independent specialists.
