Flagship Speakers Incorporate Built-In Powered Subwoofers, Wireless Remote Bass Control and Three New Patent-Pending Technologies
Definitive Technology today introduced the Mythos ST-L, a major redesign of the Mythos ST, the brand’s flagship loudspeaker that debuted in 2007. Like the original model, the Mythos ST-L is a “SuperTower” that features a built-in powered subwoofer in a slim, attractive extruded aluminum enclosure. That is where the similarities end; everything else has been redesigned and improved, including the drivers, tweeter, amplifier and user interface for dramatic upgrades in appearance, convenience and performance.
High Precision Bass Performance
Besides eliminating the need for a separate, bulky subwoofer, the ST-L’s integrated subwoofers offer important performance benefits including more even distribution of bass throughout the room and lifelike, full-range sound.
With the new Mythos ST-L, achieving bass perfection is more accessible than ever with the addition of a wireless remote control that allows the listener to change bass volume level “on the fly” to adjust for differences in program material, room acoustics and personal taste.
Fundamental Research Leads to Vast Performance Improvements
The ST-L development project started with fundamental research into transducer behavior and design with an eye toward vastly reducing audible distortion. Using state-of-the-art laser analysis, Definitive Technology’s engineers were able to identify and correct several root causes of speaker distortion. This fundamental research yielded three new patent-pending speaker technologies and substantially improved sound quality across the audible range.
As Beautiful to See as Hear
The Mythos ST-L is an aesthetic enhancement for any room. Its extruded aluminum enclosure is anodized and hand polished to a pearlescent sheen (available in black and graphite silver finishes). The base is milled cast aluminum for low center-of-gravity stability and a rich, elegant look.
Delivery and Pricing
Mythos ST-L will be available in October 2013. Its standard color is Black, but will also be available in a limited-edition Graphite Silver finish as well. U.S. MSRP is $2499 for both colors.
