Control4 Announces 1.3.2 System Software Upgrade

Enables IP-Controlled Camera Support, Full Compatibility for Windows Vista™ and Apple iPod™; Software Delivers Screen Saver Photo Display Capabilities to Existing Graphical Interfaces

Control4, the leader in affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems, today announced the 1.3.2 system software upgrade, which will be previewed at the Spring 2007 EHX at Booth #1200. The system software upgrade 1.3.2 enables a range of new features and functionality across the Control4 product line:

  • Control of IP-based cameras for applications such as home monitoring and security.
  • Screen saver functionality that turns any Control4 graphical interface into a digital photo display for still images.
  • Full support and compatibility for running Composer Pro in a Microsoft Vista environment.
  • New content compatibility for streaming audio throughout the house with enhanced iPod integration through the Sonance iPort™, enabling recognition of all Apple iPod ™-supported audio files, including Apple FairPlay, AAC, and mp3 formats.

“The system software 1.3.2 upgrade adds exciting new dimensions of control and customization to our entire product suite,” said Will West, Chief Executive Officer of Control4. “Control4 is continually focused on enhancing functionality as we invest in R&D and work closely with our dealer network and customer base to deliver affordable, market-expanding features and applications.”

The ability to control IP-based video cameras adds a new realm of solutions to the Control4 product line, especially for home security system applications. An IP-based camera managed through the Control4 system can have its feed displayed on any graphical user interface in the home, from Control4’s touch screens to any Control4-enabled television.

While watching a movie, a homeowner can switch to display live video of visitors ringing the doorbell. Additionally, by utilizing the 4Sight remote home control package, a user on vacation can monitor his or her home live at any time using a web browser.

Control4’s new screen saver functionality enables photos stored on any network storage device, including the Control4 media controller, to be rotated throughout the graphical user interfaces within a system, adding a personal touch to a system while helping to avoid screen burnout. Users can now be greeted in a unique way when a touch screen is not in use. Once the photo screensaver has been enabled on a system, Control4’s recently announced Composer Home Edition software can be used to add or remove pictures and configure display settings.

With the software upgrade, dealers and installers can now run all editions of Control4 Composer on the Windows Vista™ operating system. Homeowners can also run Composer Home Edition and Composer Media Edition on the Microsoft Vista™ environment.

System software upgrade 1.3.2 enables music to be streamed throughout the home in a variety of new ways, including support for the Sonance iPort™, a third-party device made by iPort Music lets the Control4 system fully recognize an attached iPod and read all iPod-supported files, including Apple FairPlay, AAC, and mp3 formats.

The 1.3.2 system software upgrade is expected to be available in June.
