ColorVision Spyder2PRO Studio Extends Its Award-Winning State-Of-The-Art Calibration Feature At Photoshop World
Latest Innovation in Color Calibration for Digital Projectors on Display at Photoshop World
Boston, Massachusetts — Photoshop World Conference and Expo — September 6, 2005 — Datacolor, an internationally known name in color technology, debuts the ColorVision Spyder2PRO Studio 2.0 in Booth 229 at the world’s largest Photoshop event. Photoshop World Conference and Expo is the annual convention of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) running from September 7 — 9, 2005 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
ColorVision Spyder2PRO Studio, part of the PANTONE COLORVISION family of products, extends its award-winning state-of-the-art calibration for CRT-, LCD- and notebook-screens to perfectly calibrate color images for digital projectors as well. With these expanded capabilities, the product meets the demand of a growing market for accurate color. This encompasses photographers, graphic designers, web designers, educators, print shops, ad agencies, publications, multi-media designers, service bureaus, art directors, motion graphics designers, and anyone who needs to stay on top of all the latest Photoshop technology.
Indeed, the need for accurate color has never been greater with the advent of smaller, lighter, brighter, and less expensive digital projectors. This digital imaging boom has triggered a high level of interest in the presentation market with LCD and DLP multimedia projectors that are now more affordable than some high-end LCD monitors. Priced in the hundreds instead of thousands of dollars, the projectors offer the kind of improved clarity and sharpness that have made slide projectors obsolete. The Studio 2.0 package answers every presenter’s dream in this newly expanded marketplace, from multi-media home entertainment to school and business categories.

With the new Spyder2PRO’s free software update, customers no longer have to blindly adjust the controls of a projector attempting to get the colors right. As well as correcting the contrast and brightness, the Spyder2 colorimeter and new 2.0 software scientifically measure the Red–Green–Blue chromaticity values of the display screen. Those readings are then stored as custom ICC profiles, and loaded to the video card as calibration corrections.
Visitors to Booth 229 can learn more about Spyder2PRO — award-winning monitor calibration software that delivers precise tools for adjusting calibration parameters for a single or multiple monitors to a common standard. The software offers advanced features such as improved white-point correction routines, automated black and white luminance adjustments, and improved methodology for loading calibration data at start-up. A ‘Profile Chooser’ makes it easy to select and change profiles. Multiple monitor calibration support is now available for both Mac and Windows systems.
“Monitor calibration used to be an expensive, complicated, and mysterious process,” states Matthew Chilton, product manager for the ColorVision business unit of Datacolor. “Our ground-breaking Spyder2 software’s enhanced wizard walks you through the calibration process. No question goes unanswered with comprehensive on-screen help, available at every step of the way.”
This update will be available as a free software download for all registered users with a valid serial number from www.colorvision.com for all existing Spyder2PRO Studio users.
