Exclusive offer for XM Canada Founders Club members to buy satellite radios on-line starting today
Washington D.C. – XM Canada today announced the launch of Canada’s first satellite radio service with an exclusive offer to its Founders Club members to purchase XM satellite radios and sign-up for service on-line starting today.
“This is an historic day for consumer choice, for music lovers, hockey fans and for all Canadians, rural and urban,” said Stephen Tapp president and COO, XM Canada. “XM Canada is on the air and signing up subscribers. To our thousands of supporters, XM Canada has delivered on its promise to be the first to bring Canada the greatest technological evolution in radio in the past 60 years.”
More than 4,500 Canadians pre-registered for XM over the last month by signing up to be members of XM Canada’s Founders Club. Now, those dedicated fans will be the first to be able to purchase XM radios online and begin subscribing to the XM Canada service. They are the trailblazers who couldn’t wait for XM’s originally-produced programming, including 100 percent commercial-free music and the best in news, sports, news, talk and entertainment.
In addition to being the first in Canada to sign up for satellite radio, the first 1,000 Founders Club members to order will receive the Delphi RoadyXT for only $79.99, a savings of more than 35% off MSRP.
In a recent Digital Home Canada poll, XM is the No. 1 choice of Canadian consumers. Add to that the strong demand for XM radios from retailers and XM is the indisputable leader in satellite radio in Canada. XM Canada was the first to apply for a broadcast license, the first to enter partnerships with leading automotive manufacturers and consumer electronic retailers, the first to begin broadcasting play-by-play coverage of more than 1,000 National Hockey League (NHL) games per season and the first to deliver 100 percent commercial-free music to Canadians.
Starting next week, award-winning portable and plug-n-play XM radios will be available across the country at leading retailers such as A&B Sound, Best Buy, Canadian Tire, Dumoulin/Audiotronic, Future Shop, London Drugs, Sears Canada, The Source by Circuit City, Visions Electronics and other retailers. XM radios will also be available for purchase on XM Canada’s website, www.xmradio.ca.
XM Canada listeners will be able to choose from the most extensive line-up of satellite radios in Canada from leading manufacturers such as Alpine, Audiovox, Delphi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Polk, Sony, and Yamaha. At the top of the list for this year’s stocking stuffer are the new Delphi RoadyXT, an ultra-thin satellite radio offered at $99.99 through January 31, 2005 after mail-in rebate, and the Delphi XM MyFi, the first portable satellite radio, at $399.99 MSRP.
XM Canada’s channel line-up of unparalleled music, NHL coverage, entertainment and information programming will be this season’s biggest hit. XM’s digital-quality commercial-free music appeals to a wide range of music tastes including jazz, blues, classical, country, Christian, Latin, dance/electronica, new and classic rock, plus hits from the past six decades. Starting this season, hockey fans will be able to cheer all their favorite teams across the country with NHL play-by-play coverage of more than 40 games per week, 1,000 games per season. XM will become the exclusive satellite radio home of the NHL beginning with the 2007/2008 season.
