With so many pairs of wireless ANC earbuds in the market, it’s understandable that consumers don’t jump at every new announcement. The market is definitely oversaturated and there are more average sounding models than exceptional ones. We suspect, however, that the new Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 Wireless Earbuds which include Bluetooth aptX Lossless Audio support and Active Noise Canceling (ANC) are going to very strong performers. Especially at $219 USD.
The 16-hour battery life also makes them rather useful for commuters with ANC disabled (10 hours with ANC turned on).
A custom-tuned 10mm premium driver with neodymium magnets has been matched with Class AB amplification, which has been used on Cambridge CX Series hi-fi amplifiers.
To get the most out of this driver and amplifier combination, The M100 is packing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound with aptX Lossless wireless technology.
This enables wireless playback in CD quality with no lossy compression.
Active Noise Cancellation
The hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) effectively blocks out exterior noise that would otherwise interfere with the listening experience. Qualcomm’s Adaptive ANC tech means that the noise-canceling experience is also optimized regardless of how precisely the earbuds are fitted in the ears.
10-hour battery life (extending to a seriously long-haul-friendly 16 hours with noise-canceling turned off) ensures that the sublimely immersive listening experience will remain uninterrupted, whether for a flight, a lengthy commute, or a hard-working day and night. A Qi Wireless charging case is also included.
The all-new Melomania Connect Control App (iOS/Android) includes a seven-band EQ for tweaking sound manually, while six presets can tailor the sound to bring out the best for multiple music genres.
Eco-friendly
The new Melomania uses recycled Neodymium for the driver magnets and 50% recycled plastic. The M100 is also shipped in plastic-free packaging. This provides a more sustainable product that builds on Cambridge’s support as a Founding Donor of the eco-music charity EarthPercent, which was co-founded by the iconic Brian Eno.
