CES ’07, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 — Burmester Audiosystems, Germany’s leading manufacturer of high-performance electronics and speakers, introduces its first-ever line of multichannel audio/video components and speakers at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show, beginning here today. Equally significant, Burmester’s Home Theater line will be handled by a new, wholly owned operation the company has recently established for the U.S.
An elegant suite of high-end electronics and speakers, Burmester’s new multichannel Home Theater components represent an important departure for the acclaimed two-channel specialist — Germany’s leader in high-end audio — and a major entry into the U.S. Home Theater market. The line includes two surround sound processors, three-, five- and six-channel power amplifiers, a center channel speaker, a subwoofer, handsome rack-system cabinetry, and an interface for integrating the system with home automation systems.
The 007 Reference Surround Processor, MK2 Version, is uncompromisingly geared toward delivering the highest sound quality without sacrificing ease of use. It features an external power supply with a video switch over, and sample rate conversion is applied on all channels. Dolby Digital Ex, DTS ES, DTS Neo6, and Dolby Prologic II are all standard. Addition features include Burmester sample rate conversion (SRC), balanced amplification, DC coupling so no capacitors are in the signal path, custom selectable presets, individually set audio and video inputs, automatic overload control, and a handheld remote. The modular design ensures hardware and software upgradeability, so it will never become obsolete. The suggested price for the 007 Reference Surround Processor is $39,995.
The 057 Top Line Surround Processor is a pure surround audio processor. It is also designed for uncompromising sound quality and ease of use. It shares many of the qualities of the 007, but at a more affordable price. Key features include compatibility with Dolby Digital Ex, DTS ES, DTS Neo6 and Dolby Prologic II, fully balanced amplification, DC coupling, individually set audio and video inputs, and automatic overload control. Like the 007, its hardware elements and software can be upgraded as needed. The suggested price for the 057 Top Line Surround Processor is $19,995.
The 037 Multichannel Power Amplifier is a three-channel model with a power rating of 171 watts/channel at 8 Ohms. It’s completely balanced and DC-coupled to eliminate any distorting capacitors in the signal path, and has an extremely high damping factor. Listeners will be delighted by its naturally warm musicality and detailed imaging. The suggested price for the 037 Multichannel Power Amplifier is $14,995.
The 039 Multichannel Power Amplifier can be configured for either five- or six-channel use with a power rating of 171 watts/channel at 8 Ohms. It can also be configured for three channels at 300 watts/channel at 8 Ohms. Like the 037, the 039 features DC-coupling to eliminate capacitors in the signal path, an extremely high damping factor, and naturally warm musicality and detailed imaging. The suggested price for the 039 Multichannel Power Amplifier is $19,995.
The Centerspeaker C8 was designed for life-like sound reproduction even at very high volumes. Its drivers were carefully chosen to perfectly match other Burmester speakers, and the C8 can be integrated equally well into the Burmester rack system or used as a stand-alone speaker in any listening environment. Rated for 150 watts at 4 Ohms, the C8 sports the mid-range and tweeter system of Burmester’s Top Line B80 and B50 speakers, with additional magnetic shielding for the midrange driver. The ultra-stable cabinet boasts extremely stiff internal bracing to avoid unwanted resonance, and houses the crossover in a separate chamber. The aluminum side panels can be removed for mounting in the Burmester rack. The suggested price for the Centerspeaker C8 is $7,595.
The powered Subwoofer S8 is built for natural sound reproduction up to the highest volumes, even rip-roaring levels above 115dB. Yet the S8 reproduces even the deepest frequencies without strain. Its extremely fast and well-defined bass response remains fully audible even at very low volumes, making the S8 an ideal companion to Burmester’s other speakers. It houses a strong 2,000-watt amplifier atop mighty heat sinks, two side-firing woofers with an ultra-long cone throw, and multiple control features that give it almost universal flexibility. An inner chamber made from ultra-stiff MDF board is fortified with a complex bracing system, and the S8’s rounded shape and construction drastically reduce internal reflections. The suggested price of the Subwoofer S8 is $15,995.
The components can be optionally equipped with the newest version of Burmester’s BurLinkTM interface, which features RS-232 and USB2.0 ports. It’s ideal for integrating the Home Theater with home automation systems, such as those from CrestronTM, AMXTM and other manufacturers.
Burmester’s four-shelf Rack System Cabinets feature silver trim and anodized aluminum bars. They’re available in two sizes, with dimensions of 778 x 700 x 450 mm and 778 x 1,200 x 450 mm (h/w/d); and in two finishes — dark macassar ebony and light Swiss pear elsberry, with custom finishes also available on request. Suggested prices for the Rack System Cabinets are $2,495 and $2,995.
Burmester’s new multichannel products can be seen with the company’s other outstanding offerings in Suite Ven 29-229 at the Venetian Tower during CES.
