Peterborough, Ontario January, 2008 –Bryston, LTD has announced that the internationally praised BCD-1 CD player will be used in a high powered two channel audio system at CES 2008. The CES demo system, located in the Sands/Venetian Bassano ballroom 2601, will also feature the BP26 preamplifier and a pair of 28B SST 1000-watt mono amplifiers driving THIEL CS 3.7 loudspeakers. Torus Power will provide the RM-20 AC line conditioner and surge protection for the system.
The Bryston BCD-1 CD player is hand built utilizing fully discrete Class-A analog circuitry and 192K/24Bit Crystal DAC’s, which employ a combination of several different conversion methods to optimize the processing. The Bryston BCD-1 CD Player also uses discreet operational amplifiers after the DAC instead of the commonly used integrated circuits, enabling Bryston engineers to exactly match the needs of the DAC and allow for a more robust output than IC-based amplifiers. The use of discrete devices also allows Bryston to select components with carefully matched input and output impedances based on specific in-circuit requirements. The BCD-1 has an MSRP of $2695 US.
The Bryston BP26 is another hand assembled component housed in a steel cabinet to shield against EMI. The BP26 uses an outboard power supply to further isolate any potential sources of noise. Buffered inputs deliver lower distortion and improved linearity, and a ground plane has been incorporated in the design to further reduce crosstalk and noise throughout the internal circuitry. Base price for the BP26 (with power supply) is $3895 US.
The Bryston 28B SST mono amplifiers deliver the delicacy of vacuum tube amplifiers along with the awesome power of a 1000 watt solid state design. The Bryston 28B-SST is a fully balanced-output amplifier, which has reduced THD and IMD to unprecedented low values, (typically 0.001% or less). The 28B-SST delivers a new degree of transparency, musicality and ease of listening. Superbly low noise floor, typically below — 115dB, yields absolute silence between notes for hauntingly realistic reproduction. The 28B SST’s are $8000 each US.
The Torus Power RM-20 AC line conditioner is a far cry from your average surge protector. The design objective behind the Torus power isolation units (PIU’s) was to provide a no-compromise AC power conditioning solution to improve audio/video equipment performance based on true isolation, as well as equipment protection based on non-MOV (metal oxide varistors) surge suppression technology. The Torus RM-20 delivers true isolation along with low source impedance and ample instantaneous current for todays most sophisticated and powerful audiophile amplifiers, home theater systems, and video playback equipment. The RM-20 has an MSRP of $3000.
Bryston and Torus components and new products will be on display at the Sands/Venetian Bassano ballroom 2601 with THIEL Loudspeakers and Cardas Cables.
