Bowers & Wilkins Unveil Px8 007 Edition James Bond Wireless ANC Headphones

The 007 Edition of the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 wireless noise cancelling headphones celebrate 60 years of the James Bond movie franchise.

Bowers & Wilkins and James Bond unite to celebrate 60 years of British style, performance and music. In commemoration of the occasion, high-end audio manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins is releasing a special edition midnight blue version of the company’s top-of-the-line Px8 wireless noise cancelling headphones for $799. That’s a $100 premium over the regular Px8 just introduced last month.

The color choice was inspired by the dinner jacket worn by James Bond in his first on-screen appearance in Dr. No in 1962.

Bowers & Wilkins has become a partner of the James Bond film franchise, marking the next chapter in its enduring relationship with the music of Bond. Together, the two iconic British brands celebrate the integral contribution that music has made to the story of 007.

From Monty Norman’s signature theme through each of the iconic title songs, music has been inextricably linked with 007. What many may be unaware of is Bowers & Wilkins’ relationship with the James Bond film franchise is intertwined with its 40-year relationship with Abbey Road Studios, where its flagship 800 Series loudspeakers have been used to monitor the recording of countless film scores, including Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).

More recently, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise, Abbey Road Studios engineers used Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers to help create Bond 25, an album featuring all 25 iconic Bond themes with brand new arrangements recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Abbey Road Studio One.

Together, we will continue to celebrate the instrumental role that music plays in this global cultural phenomenon.”

From the only (as far as I know, LOL!) major Bond film not produced by Eon Productions comes the words that need saying about these ‘phones…

    Never Say Never. Again.

The theme is sung, nay…vocalized by the loverly and highly talented Lani Hall, wife of Herb Alpert and lead singer of Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66. Dare I say it? Ooooo…Dare! DARE!

Post Scriptum – The author of the Bond novellas/novels/books also authored the children’s book (later made into a film) “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. Oh that this too solid mess would flesh…Indeed. I fear for the essence of what is Bond.

Cool ‘phones. Mayhaps I shall give them a bash?
