The Boston Audio Society & Enjoy the Music.com Team Up!
(August 17, 2007) Internet website Enjoy the Music.com, the leading information Web site for audiophile equipment and music since 1995 and The Boston Audio Society (BAS), with members who range from the novice enthusiast to the technically sophisticated, have teamed up to offer think pieces and technical articles.
This new arrangement brings audio enthusiasts the ability to read articles covering important issues within the world of consumer electronics. With the vast amount of technical knowledge from the Boston Audio Society’s members, readers of Enjoy the Music.com can now benefit from well over three decades of shared knowledge and experience. Over the years many important, and some now legendary, members of the Boston Audio Society include Roy F. Allison, Richard Burwen, Alvin M. Foster, Henry Kloss, E. Brad Meyer, Peter Mitchell, David Ranada, Michael Riggs, Steven R. Rochlin and David Weinberg.
“The Boston Audio Society is a voluntary consortium, formed to educate audiophiles on how best to deliver quality sound in the home,” said BAS founder Alvin M. Foster. “After thirty-five years, the mission is still the same, with the relatively recent addition of image quality: to provide the consumer with the best information. Steven R. Rochlin’s contributions to the BAS are fantastic. I truly appreciate him including our organization’s white papers on Enjoy the Music.com, broadening the audience for our message.”
Steven R. Rochlin, editor of Enjoy the Music.com, says “As the Internet’s largest Web site for high-performance audio information, news and show coverage, naturally we welcome having the Boston Audio Society join our efforts to educate readers worldwide. Having this new resource available will enable our readers to gain insight into this leading Society and become members to further their ability to gain information concerning high performance audio and video.”

About The Boston Audio Society
The Boston Audio Society (BAS) is an independent non-profit member-supported organization promoting the highest quality of music reproduction and home theater, plus high standards in recording and transmission.
More than just a local society, the BAS attempts to speak to the worldwide community of audio and video enthusiasts. Founded in 1972, the BAS meets monthly to hear and discuss developments in audio, video and related fields. Guest speakers over our 35 years have included prominent engineers, designers, researchers, editors and reviewers, musicians and critics, broadcasters and recording producers. On occasion we hold joint meetings with the Boston chapters of the AES (Audio Engineering Society), SMPTE (the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers), and the ASA (Acoustical Society of America). Our non-commercial newsletter, the BAS Speaker (BASS), includes comprehensive and lively coverage of these meetings as well as reviews, news columns, features, letters and other articles on a variety of audio and video topics.
BAS members range from the novice enthusiast to the technically sophisticated. Consumers and producers of audio and video equipment are both represented. Members include freelance journalists, reviewers, and editors at audio and home theater magazines, as well as design engineers, recording engineers, consultants, and researchers who influence product development and the course of the industry. Some members work for manufacturers (as technician, design engineer, or marketing manager), others for dealers. All are devotees – audiophiles and videophiles in the best sense of the term – and tend to be technically and technologically aware, informed about the marketplace, and keenly interested in scientific approaches to audio and video.
For these reasons, the BAS and the Speaker are a vital forum. As someone involved in audio or video, you might well will find the group an interesting, helpful resource. Our meetings and newsletter might help shape the future of consumer and pro audio/video even while clarifying its past. Manufacturers, for example, can use the BAS to follow trends and developments, and to gather informed reactions to products and events. At the least, we attempt to be a clearinghouse for ideas, helping various parts of the industry and experienced consumers keep in touch with one another.
