Three models feature tremendous power handling capabilities and dual 3-inch voice coils for flexible 1, 2, or 4 Ohm installation options.
Blaupunkt has introduced three new subwoofers in its high-octane Velocity line of speakers, delivering flexible installation options, outspoken cosmetics, and power handling capabilities exceeding 1000 Watts RMS. One of these models, the 12-inch Velocity Vw1200, has been selected to receive the Innovations 2005 design and engineering award at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show.
Each Blaupunkt Velocity subwoofer employs a pair of high current 2-Ohm voice coils that can be used independently with two amplifier channels, or configured in series or parallel for either 1 or 4 Ohm single channel operation using a hidden jumper wire. The jumper is integrated into the driver housing with a protective foam covering to prevent contact with the basket or inadvertent disconnection, providing obvious benefits in simplicity, reliability, and cosmetics.
The Velocity subwoofer line includes 10, 12, and 15 inch models with high output woven fiberglass cones that provide the look of carbon fiber, but maintain exceptional stiffness and low distortion, even at extreme volumes. Each employs oversized voice coils and extremely powerful magnets, giving them power handling capabilities of over 1000 Watts RMS. The series’ sturdy cast aluminum baskets resist deformation and resonance at all power levels, and feature attractive chromed backplates for high-profile installations.
The Blaupunkt Velocity subwoofers will be available in February. The 10-inch Vw1000 and 12-inch Vw1200 will have suggested retail prices of $279.95 and $299.95, respectively. The 15-inch Velocity Vw1500 will have a suggested retail price of $349.95.
