Premium 9- and 10.4-inch swivel monitors: quality, integration, and control for consumers; single-cable hookup and shallow mounting console for installers.
BROADVIEW, IL (4/13/04) — Blaupunkt has expanded its second-generation in-car video lineup with the immediate delivery of two swiveling overhead monitors, providing superior display quality, low-impact shallow mounting console, simplified installation, and a powerful suite of capabilities for integration with both new and existing car A/V systems. The 10.4-inch IVMR-1042 and 9-inch widescreen IVMR-9002 monitors each feature a high quality TFT active matrix LCD screen, front panel display controls, IR headphone transmitter, IR remote control receiver, and require only a single cable for complete integration with whole-car entertainment systems.
A single 13-pin DIN cable handles all the connections necessary to integrate with Blaupunkt’s companion signal controllers. These include power, audio and video input, source selection, volume control, menu, and IR remote control signal exchange. The monitors also include a breakout cable that allows seamless integration with equipment from other manufacturers. When not in use, each of the IVMR monitors stow away in an attractive overhead mounting shroud with a depth of just 1.4 inches.
The IVMR-1042 is a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor with the largest overhead monitor available that includes the ability to swivel to optimize viewing angle for passengers, capable of rotating up to 30 degrees off-axis to the right or left. The IVMR-9002 monitor features a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, 130-degree horizontal viewing angle, and the ability to swivel up to 45 degrees off-axis. Each monitor features three selectable display modes for compatibility with both 16:9 widescreen and conventional 4:3 aspect ratio source material.
Thanks to the monitors’ IR pass-through capability, the front panel IR sensor can also double as a remote sensor for a concealed DVD player, or any other device equipped with a 3.5mm IR input jack. When used in conjunction with one of Blaupunkt’s in-car video controllers, an entire system of up to five monitors and five source components can be controlled from any or all IR sensors in the car.
Unlike many car monitors, which use refurbished LCD panels, these are brand new stock, and are guaranteed for a minimum of 10,000 hours (that’s over 417 days of continuous operation) without degradation of the video panel or display. The IVMR monitors are compatible with both NTSC and PAL signals, and include a built-in amplified speaker, as well as an IR transmitter for private listening with wireless headphones. Each also features an additional AV input for connecting portable devices, as well as a convenient on-screen display and a full-function handheld remote, keeping children and passengers in their seats, rather than reaching for front panel controls.
The Blaupunkt IVMS-9002 and IVMS-1042 overhead video monitors are currently available at suggested retail prices of $749.95 and $999.95, respectively.
