The true wireless category has become so oversaturated that brands are genuinely struggling to differentiate their products from the competition. What makes any of the best products truly unique from one another? Beyerdynamic is hoping that their new VERIO 200 Open-Ear True Wireless Earphones offer something that the competition does not. Let’s take a look.
Open Ear Design
Designed in Germany, the VERIO 200 open-ear true wireless earphones deliver high-quality beyerdynamic sound while users can still hear their surroundings. The open-ear design also enhances spatial awareness, making the VERIO 200 great for commutes, workouts, home office, and outdoor activity use scenarios.
IP54 certification ensures that the VERIO 200 is splash-proof and sweat-resistant for indoor and outdoor usage.
In addition to the open-ear design, the VERIO 200 provides a secure fit, ergonomic comfort, long-lasting battery life, and in-app customizable sound tuning.
The Drivers
The VERIO 200 incorporates a 16.22mm custom-designed graphene neodymium driver. This driver delivers precise sound and impressive bass for a TWS option while minimizing sound leakage, ensuring an immersive listening experience in any environment.
Microphones
The open-ear VERIO 200 features two integrated microphones aptX Voice technology support. This ensures crystal-clear speech in any environment – a necessity for on-the-go earphones. In addition, advanced ambient noise detection and filtering features guarantee clear voice transmission, whether engaged in calls or recording audio.
Battery Life
The VERIO 200 provides up to 8 hours of battery run time, plus an additional 27 hours with the charging case – for 35 hours total. Just 10 minutes of charge provides 1 hour of listening.
Bluetooth
VERIO 200 offers connectivity across multiple applications using Multipoint Bluetooth 5.3. Compatible with both iOS and Android devices, VERIO 200 supports the latest audio codecs, including aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC.
Beyerdynamic App
In combination with the VERIO 200, beyerdynamic is also providing a new app (iOS, Android). This enables users to personalize their listening experience by creating EQ acoustic profiles and tuning the earphones’ sound via the 5-band equalizer, as well as customizing on-board controls. The app is first time beyerdynamic offers full custom EQ capabilities and control customization to its comfort line of audio products, setting the stage for similar functionality in future app-connected releases.
From beyerdynamic CEO Andreas Rapp: “Today’s active, on-the-go lifestyle requires earphones that allow people to remain aware of their surroundings,…That’s why we created VERIO 200 – open-ear, true wireless earphones that seamlessly blend into the activities of everyday life without sacrificing exceptional comfort, security, and sound quality.”

Initial Impressions
Open-ear (or open-fit) style wireless earbuds are a relatively new option for listeners who don’t like jamming earphone tips deep into their ears. At $219, the VERIO 200 slot in between the Cleer ARC II ($169) and Bose Ultra Open ($299), and seem to offer a compelling value proposition.
Based on beyerdynamic’s 100-year history, we’d expect a quality offering, but will need to await further testing until rendering a verdict.
