BenQ Adds Four Models To Digital Projector Line

Cross-Functional Units Come with Many Value-Added Features to Help Presenters from the Boardroom to the Classroom and the Family Room

IRVINE, Calif., (January 4, 2007) – BenQ, a leading manufacturer of digital lifestyle devices, today announced the addition of four models to its digital projector line. The new models – loaded with features to aid operator usage – are the MP721, MP721C, MP611, and MP611C. These cross-functional units provide exceptional image quality, whether used in a corporate, medium, or small-sized business setting, or educational environment, or as part of a home-theater system. The new units have MSRPs of $1499 (MP721), $999 (MP721C), $899 (MP611), and $749 (MP611C).

“Each of these new BenQ digital projectors not only provides picture-perfect presentations, but they don’t force the user to jump through hoops to do it,” said Po Su, BenQ USA Product Manager. “In fact, with features such as MyScreen, presentation timer, power alert tone, “Q” hot key, and a blackboard mode, they make it positively easy.”

A Presenter’s Dream
The new BenQ digital projectors have been engineered to be a presenter’s best friend. To allow the presenter to stay verbally and visually engaged with the audience, a discreet tone lets him know the projector has powered on before a presentation or has finished cooling afterwards. The auto-off feature shuts the projectors down if no input sources are detected after a user-predetermined time, conserving power and preventing possible overheating.

To keep presentations from becoming derailed by the inadvertent hitting of a projector control button, BenQ has outfitted these units with a panel-key lock that prevents such annoyances. A built-in unobtrusive on-screen timer keeps a presenter on track. Users will seldom be stumped should a problem arise, as a “Q?” Hot FAQ Key quickly provides answers.

BenQ feels no important, professional presentation need begin with its logo. Each of these new units allows customization of the start-up/default screen through the included MyScreen software utility. A simple connection to a PC or laptop with a common RS-232 cable makes it a snap to use any other logo or image.

A hallmark of all BenQ digital projectors is their quiet operation. At 25dB, these units will not be heard even in the quietest of libraries. A special blackboard mode, that permits presentations to be shown on a blackboard yet still feature legible text, cleanly rendered images, or crisp video, is part of a nine-set picture mode function. The function instantly provides optimized settings for brightness, color saturation, and contrast, ensuring the best performance in different applications, such as movie viewing and gaming.

Offering brightness values ranging from 2100 ANSI Lumens to 2500 ANSI Lumens along with a 2000:1 contrast ratio, these units display clear, crisp images, even in a brightly lit room. It is never necessary to dim lights or shut curtains, a major plus for home theater use.

Input Versatility
Multimedia versatility makes these the perfect units for virtually any presentation, regardless of how it was made. All accept analog RGB, component video, composite video, and S-Video inputs; the MP721 and MP721C also accept DVI-I input. They also can handle a wide range of digital video formats, including 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080i, enabling them to work with many high-definition TV systems, making them also ideal for home entertainment systems.

LinkPro Wireless Presentations
An optional LinkPro wireless connectivity module is available for the MP721 and MP721C. This BenQ exclusive eliminates all restrictive cables, providing the flexibility and freedom of being able to operate the PC or notebook running the presentation without unsightly cables.

Other Tremendous Features
Utilizing reliable DLP™ projection, these units offer superb image quality longer than other projection systems. Additionally, the BenQ five-segment golden-ratio color-wheel helps balance true color saturation and maximizes color accuracy, helping ensure that the projected image is exactly the same color and saturation as the input signal.

Weighing only 5.9 pounds with a footprint of just 10.9″ x 8.7″, the units can be easily transported from one room to another.
