Avocent SonicAdmin Adds Lotus Notes/Domino Management from Mobile Devices
SonicAdmin 4.0 unchains IT execs from the data center
New Orleans, LA — March 14, 2005 — Avocent Corporation’s (NASDAQ: AVCT) Mobile Solutions Group today announced the latest version of SonicAdmin at the CTIA Wireless Conference in New Orleans. SonicAdmin enables network administrators to securely manage networks using a smartphone, PDA, BlackBerry or other mobile device. With version 4.0, IT professionals can now manage Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino servers.
“SonicAdmin 4.0 enables IT users to securely connect to a network, diagnose problems, and fix them in real time, all from a hand-held wireless device they can slip into their pocket,” said Derek Ball, director of business development for Avocent. “The addition of Lotus Notes and Domino support gives IT personnel running Lotus servers the power of being there, no matter where they are.”
SonicAdmin is a complete network and server administration utility that allows system administrators and support workers to diagnose and repair server and network problems; as well as perform day-to-day maintenance, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. SonicAdmin will increase uptime by enabling users to bring systems back online faster and with less effort. SonicAdmin features integrations with selected third-party applications including TelAlert, NetIQ AppManager, Microsoft Exchange, Blackberry Enterprise Server and RSA SecurID. SonicAdmin utilizes a sophisticated multi-layer security model that utilizes point-to-point industry standard security protocols to ensure that the advantages of mobility do not compromise your network.
Pricing and Availability
SonicAdmin 4.0 is available for $249 per managed server, $2,000 for a 10 pack, and $7,500 for 50. Avocent products can be purchased through leading resellers worldwide. SonicAdmin 4.0 will be available in April 2005. A public beta is currently available for download at http://www.sonicmobility.com. Current SonicAdmin 3.1 customers with a valid maintenance agreement can upgrade to the new version for free upon release of version 4.0.
