Avocent to Offer Third Party Product Access and Control via DSView 3 Software for Complete Data Center Manageability
Agreement with Uptime Devices for Data Center Environmental Monitoring
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — March 28, 2006 — Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced the expansion of third party manageability by its DSView 3 management software through an agreement with Uptime Devices.
Uptime Devices is a leader in environmental monitoring and management of the data center physical environment. The agreement will allow Avocent DSView 3 software customers to remotely access and control the Uptime Devices SensorHub equipment to monitor the temperature, humidity, airflow, water, voltage, and security of their data centers. DSView 3 software will notify users when the conditions exceed defined limits and provide a way to resolve environmental problem remotely.
“This is an exciting first step for us to align with Uptime Devices and expand the sphere of the management capabilities of our enterprise software,” said Dusty Pritchett, executive vice president of global marketing. “By adding access and control through our software of third party products already in use in the data center, we continue with our mission to help simplify the complex data center manageability issues.”
“Everyone from the small to medium sized business to the enterprise can benefit from the peace of mind that physical environmental monitoring provides,” said Jean-Paul Daemen of Uptime Devices.
SensorHub environmental monitoring equipment is available for purchase both through Avocent Take Command Program resellers and direct from Uptime Devices.
Avocent DSView 3 management software provides secure remote access and control of servers, serial and power devices in the data center over IP, providing critical time-saving alerts to IT administrators. It is available for purchase through Avocent Take Command Program resellers and multiple distribution channels and catalogs.
“While our agreement with Uptime Devices is our next step in third party manageability available to customers, we continue to partner with independent software vendors to develop more powerful tools that easily integrate with DSView 3 software,” said Pritchett.
Avocent ISV partners are selected software vendors or platform vendors with worldwide market coverage and IT offerings that deliver value to Avocent brands.
