HUNTSVILLE, AL March 7, 2006 — Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced the introduction of its Emerge wireless and wired media streamer products in the UK and Ireland. These products enable AV applications to extend audio and video to display devices such as plasma screens, projectors, or monitors. The professional AV line consists of the EWMS1000 wireless media streamer, the EMS1000P CAT5 point-to-point video extender and the EMS1000MP CAT5 point-to-multipoint video extender. Avocent is partnering with local distributors in the UK and Ireland to make these products widely available to customers who require wireless or wired AV connectivity.

The Avocent Emerge EWMS1000 wireless media streamer broadcasts high quality, full motion streaming video from virtually any source to multiple display devices. Because of its wireless video graphics and audio design, the Emerge EWMS1000 makes installations simpler and more cost-effective. The Emerge EWMS1000 can be deployed in either a point-to-point (extension) or point-to-multipoint (broadcast) configuration. It supports various input/output formats including Component, S-Video, Composite, VGA, RS-232 control, and stereo audio.
The Avocent EMS1000P CAT5 point-to point video extension product and the EMS1000MP CAT5 point-to-multipoint video extension device are both UXGA compatible. The products are rack-mountable for ease of installation. The EMS1000P CAT5 and the EMS1000MP CAT5 support multiple input/output formats, automatic input/output detection and RS-232.
