Avocent Introduces Avocent Alliance Program
Launch of the First ISV Partner Program includes Global Leaders Ipswitch and LANDesk
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 22, 2005 — Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced the launch of the Avocent Alliance program, a new program that will enable key partners to work with Avocent to deliver management tools for complete end-to-end management solutions in the distributed data center and IT environment. Avocent Alliance partners will be selected software vendors or platform vendors with worldwide market coverage and IT offerings that deliver value to Avocent brands.
To launch the program, Avocent is pleased to announce it has selected Ipswitch, Inc. www.ipswitch.com, maker of Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional 2005, for its global leadership position in network monitoring along with LANDesk Software (LANDesk Server Manager) www.landesk.com, selected for its leadership in system and security management solutions, to launch the program.
Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional 2005 and LANDesk Software (LANDesk Server Manager) products will be integrated into the next version of DSView 3 management software to be released in Q2 of 2005.
Other companies whose solutions will be deployed later this year are:
AdventNet (OpManager) www.adventnet.com , selected for comprehensive server and data center management functionality,
Mountain View Data (PowerCockpit) www.mountainviewdata.com , a server management software company already partnered with Avocent/OSA Technologies to deliver Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) solutions, and
SilverBack Technologies (Datacenter, Professional) www.silverbacktech.com , selected for their leadership in integrated IT and security monitoring software that helps to transform organizations into profitable managed service providers while accelerating margins and streamlining offerings.
“By strategically aligning with leading companies to deliver comprehensive IT solutions, Avocent can develop, market, deliver, and implement the most advanced suite of end-to-end technology solutions and services to help fulfill our customers’ business needs,” said John Cooper, CEO of Avocent.
Participating companies will be able to add value to their solutions by integrating with Avocent DSView 3 management software, a core technology in the Avocent Virtual Presence Infrastructure platform that provides complete connectivity to embedded technologies, KVM, serial and IPMI appliances and management software in distributed IT environments.
The Avocent Alliance Program for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) will allow partners to easily integrate with the DSView 3 management software. This will provide customers with access to powerful remote manageability tools needed to enhance overall server and device management. Each partner will launch the Avocent DSView management software from their console for server troubleshooting and Avocent will build the connectors to launch the partner’s solution within the DSView management software. The Avocent Alliance program will enable qualified vendors to easily integrate with Avocent solutions through its flexible and open architecture, creating widespread partner support with minimal requirements.
“Avocent’s strong presence in the datacenter provides LANDesk Software with an excellent platform for growth,” said Joe Wang, president and CEO of LANDesk Software. “LANDesk Server Manager offers exceptional value and cost savings to IT administrators, and we view Avocent as a top partner for promoting this value and selling to the datacenter.”
“Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional already monitors more than 40,000 networks worldwide,” noted Patrick Loring, Ipswitch director of business development. “By working with Avocent, our mutual goal is that a significantly greater number of network administrators will benefit from Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional’s superior discovery, mapping and monitoring capabilities when used with Avocent solutions.”
AdventNet, Mountain View Data and SilverBack Technologies solutions will be deployed in a future release of DSView software.
