HD-SD/SDI single fiber optic extender designed to integrate Professional and commercial system
Atlona Technologies takes on high end video extension with their new HD-SD/SDI single fiber optic extender. This new extender is designed to transmit multi-rate SDI video with embedded audio and metadata over a single LC type fiber optic cable. This SDI extender, model AT-SDI10SR-LC, will extend SDI signal up to 300M (1000ft) with active line equalization, and can handle any protocol from SMPTE 259M to 292M and DVB ASI. This unit has great potential for Government and Professional Broadcast studio, military, and hospital imaging applications due to the inherent security of Fiber optic transfer. Fiber optic lines are immune to outside interference from EMI or EMP, so these units output exactly the same quality image as they receive.
Atlona recently released several SD-HD/SDI products with the intent of capturing the professional video market. “The research on this project was pretty interesting” said Ilya Khayn, Atlona’s Operations Manager. The firm interviewed hundreds of industry professionals to acertain some of the more common problems that they faced. “We came up several possible designs based on what [they] were saying.” Ilya continues. The firm has now released three of their designs; the AT-HDSDI-AV, the AT-AV-HDSDI, and now the AT-SDI10SR-LC, with plans to release several others this year. The AT-SDI10SR-LC will be available for pre-order on their site at an MSRP of $1,249.00 and are now shipping.
