Atlantic Technology has been making well-received freestanding, bookshelf, in-wall, and in-ceiling speakers for over 30 years but has also taken that track record into the headphone space. Their new FS-BTWS582 headphones bump things up to the next level.
Many companies offer earphones and/or headphones that might be great for making phone calls and listening to music on smartphones, but might not deliver when it comes to serious home music listening movie viewing, or gaming.
However, the Atlantic Technology FS-BTWS582 is designed to perform well with any wired or wireless audio source including home theater listening and gaming where lip-sync and game lag is a major issue (especially when using Bluetooth).
SKAA
For wireless use, the Atlantic Technology FS-BTWS582 does include Bluetooth, but the big story is that it also includes SKAA compatibility. This allows the FS-BTWS582 to surpass Bluetooth performance with CD Quality audio and a transmission range of up to 150 feet from compatible sources, such as the Atlantic Technology Gatecrasher 3 PowerBar, FS-252 powered speakers, and STA-200 integrated amplifier.
Also, the SKAA-enabled Gatecrasher 3 PowerBar has a built-in AI that automatically detects the presence of the FS-BTWS582 (if turned on). The speakers in the Gatecrasher 3 PowerBar are automatically muted and the audio is wirelessly streamed to the headphones. SKAA can stream to four pairs of FS-BTWS582 headphones (or a combination of compatible headphones and speakers in a multiroom setup) at once if desired.
Atlantic Technology offers several optional Plug-and-Play SKAA adapters for other analog and digital audio source devices.
The adapters are labeled as follows:

- DIZ: Lightning (iOS smartphones, tablets, computers).
- Cassandra: USB-C (iOS and Android smartphones, tablets, computers, PC’s

- Talisa: Digital Stereo – TOSLINK Optical & S/PDIF (Game consoles, media players, AVR’s, STBs, computers
SKAA is easy to use. No app or pairing is needed to play audio from SKAA sources. Just press the designated button on the headphones and the connection should be almost instantaneous.
Controls are also provided on the headphones for volume and Bluetooth pairing. SKAA and Bluetooth can’t be used at the same time.

- Low 32-ohm impedance supports connection with smartphones, tablets, and portable players in addition to other audio source devices.
- Headphone speaker sensitivity is 114 dB =/- 4 dB (1 kHz/ 1 Vrms).
- THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is Less than 0.5% (Measured using a 1 kHz test tone)

- A rechargeable 2200 mAh Battery is included. When fully charged the run time is up to 12 hours. The battery can be re-charged from any USB 2.0 charging source.
