AT&T and Apple to Launch iPhone 3G in the US on July 11

AT&T and Apple today announced that the innovative iPhone™ 3G will be available in the US on July 11. iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast* as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.

AT&T’s broad and powerful 3G mobile broadband network offers 3G mobile phones download speeds of up to 1.4 Mbps. iPhone 3G will be available in the US on July 11 for a retail price of $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model in both Apple and AT&T’s retail stores and requires a new two year contract. AT&T will also sell iPhone 3G through its direct business sales teams.

Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) and Apple today announced that the highly anticipated iPhone™ 3G will be available to customers in Italy on July 11. iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast* as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.

Moreover, iPhone 3G will drive growth in Telefonica’s 3G customer base in Spain. Telefonica signed up more 3G customers than any operator in Spain in the fourth quarter of the last year and now services over 4.2 million devices.

iPhone 3G will sell in Telefonica’s top stores and more than 3,500 points of sale in Spain, first in Madrid in its new flagship store on Gran Via Street, opening on July 8.
