New IVA-W203/P1 System Provides All-Inclusive Entertainment and Navigation at Drivers’ Fingertips
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of automotive mobile media solutions, today introduced a new product that provides a multitude of entertainment options and navigation in one sleek in-dash system. The IVA-W203/P1 audio/video/navigation (AVN) system offers drivers touch-screen control over various digital media sources, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and navigation.
“The in-car environment has become more complex, with features such as iPod, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, DVD video and navigation becoming the norm,” said Stephen Witt, vice president, marketing, Alpine Electronics. “Alpine’s IVA-W203/P1 delivers a completely integrated, easy-to-use solution to meet this new definition of the driving experience.”
The new IVA-W203/P1 features a 6.5-inch QVGA touch-screen display in a double-DIN size. In addition to playing DVD-R/-RW/MP3/WMA audio and video files, popular digital media sources such as satellite radio, HD Radio with multicasting, iPod and MP3/WMA portable players with MTP protocol can be integrated into and controlled through the IVA-W203/P1. (Separate adapters, tuner boxes and service subscriptions required.)
iPod connectivity for the IVA-W203/P1 is made possible through Alpine’s KCE-422i Full Speed Connection for iPod cable (sold separately), which allows drivers to control their iPod via the IVA-W203/P1’s touch screen. The IVA-W203/P1 shows advanced digital media tag information by displaying artist, album, song and playlist data for easy file navigation. Its innovative Percentage Search feature, which assigns sections of iPod files to the scroll bar at the bottom of the monitor, makes searching for a specific song quick and easy.
The IVA-W203/P1’s navigation features include:
- Preloaded NAVTEQ map data of the United States and Canada, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
- Four intuitive map viewing options, including 3D mapping, 2D full map, split map and turn-by-turn arrow view.
- Preloaded unique Points of Interest (POI), including restaurants, hotels and gas stations.
- Turn-by-turn instructions delivered by Text-To-Speech (TTS) technology, which announces actual street names. Directions may be given in English, Spanish or French.
- Exclusive Graphical User Interface (GUI for Drivers) with intuitive screen graphics.
The IVA-W203/P1’s Bluetooth module provides convenient hands-free phone connectivity when used with a Bluetooth-enabled phone. Users can answer and place phone calls, with the conversation played through the vehicle’s speakers. An external microphone is included to allow for specific placement in the vehicle. Calls can be dialed out using the on-screen 12-key phone dial, and call data such as Dialed Calls, Missed Calls and Received Calls can be displayed on the IVA-W203/P1’s screen. If a POI is chosen from the navigation menu, the user can call the POI directly via the Bluetooth module.
