Over the past 4 years, Acoustic Energy has reinvented itself on this side of the pond thanks to the hard work of Fidelity Imports and a rather impressive range of loudspeakers that are rather affordable by high-end standards. The AE1 Active loudspeakers have earned multiple awards from EIC Ian White who still considers them to be his reference in the active category below $4,500 and there is no question that its flagship Corinium loudspeakers were one of the most impressive products at CAF 2023. Trickle down technology from its flagship has become the foundation for its new 300 Series loudspeaker line.
The new 300 series includes an AE300² stand mount speaker, the AE309² and AE320² floor standing speakers, and the AE307² LCR model.
The new 300 Series represents Acoustic Energy’s continued innovation in speaker technology with every component redesigned – the claim is that no parts are carried over from the previous 300 Series.
Tweeter
The 300 Series features a new soft dome tweeter developed from the Corinium project. The tweeter provides improved speed, clarity, and low distortion. Utilizing the latest WDT waveguide, it supports low baffle diffraction at crossover frequencies and a wide listening sweet spot at higher frequencies. The result is a more open, delicate, and natural sounding treble.
Mid-Woofer
At the heart of the new 300 Series is an all-new mid-woofer, which incorporates a unique blend of paper and coconut husk. This driver is designed to deliver a smooth, natural, and refined response, combining warmth and clarity with the dynamic punch of Acoustic Energy’s traditional aluminum cone. Combined with the new tweeter, the 300 series supports smoother sound reproduction in the mid and high-frequencies
Crossover
Once again, building from the Corinium project, the crossover for the 300 series is designed to significantly reduce distortion. With a more holistic approach to the woofer, tweeter, and cabinet, the crossover filter minimizes phase distortion resulting in better musicality.
Cabinets
For the first time at its price point, the 300 Series features constrained layer RSC™ (Resonance Suppression Composite) cabinets, a technology pioneered in Acoustic Energy’s Reference Series nearly 15 years ago. This implementation reduces cabinet radiation, allowing the drive units to perform without interference. This supports a pure, uncolored, natural sound.
The cabinets have also been slimmed down without adding depth, and the AE307² model features an ultra-shallow sealed box with a passive radiator, offering wall-mounting versatility.
New Finishes
The redesigned 300 series features a newly developed high gloss finish with a durable ‘silk-touch’ matte material with bespoke, color-coordinated trims and matching premium grille fabrics. Solid aluminum feet are provided on floor-standing models
From Mat Spandl, Managing Director of Acoustic Energy: “The development of the new 300 Series has been a journey of innovation and discovery. By leveraging the insights from our Corinium project, we have been able to push the boundaries of what is possible in loudspeaker design at this price point. Our goal was to create a speaker that not only delivers exceptional sound quality but also integrates seamlessly into modern living spaces. We believe the new 300 Series achieves this and more.“

The Bottom Line
It’s a good thing when cutting-edge technology trickles down a product line, especially when it results in reasonable prices that attract a wider customer base.
From what we know so far, the new version of the Acoustic Energy 300 series not only incorporates technologies formerly reserved for their flagship Corinium speaker line but has also given the 300 series a fresh new look that is functional and has better visual appeal.
Let’s hope they arrive on the US market sooner rather than later.
