SAN JOSE, Calif, Oct. 14, 2005 Acer America Corporation, one of the leading worldwide suppliers of IT solutions, today introduced the Acer Aspire 9500, a family of 17″ wide-screen notebooks designed for the work and entertainment needs of professionals in SMB and SOHO environments and home users. Highlighted by a 17″ WXGA Acer CrystalBrite color TFT LCD, and optional features such as ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics, analog and digital TV tuner and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, these newest Acer notebooks are the perfect solution for users looking to leverage multimedia convergence technologies in a mobile system.
In addition to the performance offered by either an Intel Pentium M or Intel Celeron M Processor and up to 2GB DDR2 533 SDRAM, the Acer Aspire 9500 series also features Acer’s exclusive 17″ WXGA widescreen CrystalBrite color TFT LCD. The Acer CrystalBrite display is managed either by an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics card with 128/256 MB dedicated video memory or by the Intel 915GM integrated 3D graphics card featuring Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900. In addition, DualView technology support allows simultaneous viewing of the LCD and an external monitor.
The Acer Aspire 9500 series also offers an optional analog and digital TV tuner that allows connection to standard home antenna or to digital antenna for a choice of TV programs. The Aspire 9500 wide-screen display does not limit its portability, in fact the Aspire 9500 weighs less than eight pounds. Light enough to be a mobile system, the Aspire 9500 is equipped with an 8 cell Li-ion battery that produces up to 3 hours battery life.
This newest Acer notebook incorporates up to a 120GB hard drive, integrated DVD-Dual double layer drive, 5-in-1 memory card reader supporting MultiMediaCard (MMC), Secure Digital (SD), Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro and xD-Picture standards, and Acer CinemaVision and Acer ClearVision (Acer Arcade) video technologies that allow optimized DVD and audio CD management.
For communication and connectivity the Aspire 9500 offers maximum flexibility through integrated IEEE 802.11b/g dual-mode WiFi and an integrated Bluetooth module. In addition, the standard 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet card and 56Kbps ITU V.92 fax modem provide instant connectivity options for home and office environments.
The Acer Aspire 9500 is equipped with a comprehensive set of ports, including five USB 2.0 ports, optional DVI-D port, ExpressCard slot, one Type II PC Card slot, IEEE 1394 port and one S-video/TV-out (NTSC/PAL) port.
The Aspire 9500 features the new Acer’s Empowering Technology software offerings. Accessible via the “Empowering Key” on the notebook keyboard, Acer’s Empowering Technology lets users quickly access frequently-used functions and settings, making their PCs more productive and their job more efficient and successful.
The Aspire 9500 notebook series comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional or Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition preinstalled with Recovery CD. Additional installed software includes Acer GridVista — an innovative software utility that automatically resizes open application windows to fit the screen, and Acer Arcade Software Suite, Acer’s multimedia suite featuring Acer CinemaVision video technology and Acer ClearVision video optimization technology.
