The Acapella High Violoncello II Full-Range Loudspeaker, a newly developed system in the Acapella family, combines the you-are-there presence of an efficient horn speaker with the virtues of conventional loudspeakers. It features a unique ion tweeter, developed by Acapella, and boasts excellent sound reproduction and a lustrous finish. The woofers dynamically adapt to the high speeds of the mid-range horn unit and the ion tweeter, which is the fastest high-frequency transmission system in the world.
Acapella designed the ion tweeter to reproduce in as detailed a manner as possible music's harmonics. To achieve this, it created a very unusual kind of design — a tweeter with no mass. Using a special transducer, the tweeter produces a high voltage pulsating arc, modulated by the musical signal, that ionizes the surrounding air and is and able to reproduce sound without a membrane. A small ceramic tube combined with a bronze horn works like a catalyst to prevent the smell of ozone from escaping into the environment. The ion tweeter is designed for frequencies up to about 40 kHz, making it possible to precisely play every kind of music. Its unobtrusive sound and lack of harmonic and transient distortions simply cannot be achieved by conventional tweeter designs.
Like Acapella's other horn systems, the Violoncello's possesses the ability to play loudly and highly efficiently, enabling the use of amplifiers with a recommended power output of only 15 watts. The resulting sound is clean, neutral and true. It faithfully reproduces the original source, and radiates spherically creating a three-dimensional soundfield.
Each exceptionally finished, resonance-free cabinet stands 64 inches high by 19 inches wide by 27 inches deep, overall, and weighs 308 pounds. The horn is available in any color automotive finish, and the cabinet's serial number is applied by hand and registered in the production records so all its characteristics can be reproduced should the need ever arise.
The Acapella High Violoncello II Speaker is available now from authorized dealers at a suggested price (U.S. MSRP) of $80,500/pair.
