Top 10 Hi-Fi News Stories: April 24, 2022

For the week ending April 24, 2022 we roundup the top 10 Hi-Fi news stories of the week from across the web.

Good Vibes

1. DGTLFestival

🇨🇦 Doug Schneider @sounstagenetwork confidently and proudly proclaims they found the best video crew in the hi-fi-publishing business with Chris @skywardkick in The Netherlands wrapping up @dgtlfestival with @duesmeit. Watch for their video about how @emmlabsinc DACs get used there. Have you had the opp to listen to an EMMLabs DAC?

2.  Andrew: Lii Audio S10

🇺🇸 When Thomas and Stereo announced he had Pearl Acoustic Sibelius loudspeakers I was Jelly AF, what do crossover-less loudspeakers sound like? Andrew rolls out a new review in their completed listening room of the Lii Audio S10 crossover-less loudspeaker. Are you intrigued on this style of speaker? The hype is real.

3. HIGHEND Munich

🇬🇧 Alan Parsons announces his brand ambassadorship with High End Munich 2022 May 19-22; so cool! Recommended listening: Alan Parsons, A Valid Path, 2004. (I may have just rolled out of a rock because this is new listening to me!)

4. Not So Cheap

🇺🇸 R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for Randy and his passion for content creation and coverage at the Audio Expo North America; AXPONA is the news this week, it’s all good. Did you catch Randy’s comment he should start a new review channel? not_cheapaudioman – I’d follow that, would you?

5. Psychedelic Baby

🇸🇮 Another great place to get the news and discover music: It’s Psychedelic Baby @psychedelic_baby_magazine is an independent music magazine. A place where musicians can express themselves. Covering different genres of alternative, underground as well as mainstream artists. Exclusive interviews, reviews, articles and premieres. We serve an international readership. Founded in 2010 by Klemen Breznikar. @jack.breznikar

Suggested article: Ilitch | Interview | New Album, ‘White Light’

6. Agree with Dennis Foley wholly?

🇺🇸 When money trees blossom Dennis will design my listening studio and I will have zero bottlenecks in that room – wait, that’s like perfectly-imperfect. My room is a bottleneck I can’t remove. I’ve come to learn that everything matters, and Dennis preaches it.

7. Super Woofer?

🇺🇸 You had me at SUPER. @DevonOjas does it again, this time built in in-stereo! Bigger is better and with less excursion; the Fostex 31.5” FW800HS has a maximum displacement of 2mm which means you wont see them moving. With minimal excursion comes higher fidelity, believe it.

8. Needed Listening

🇩🇪 John and Srajan do it again, did you listen? Did you listen twice and take notes? Order up; Yes please. I’m intrigued to listen to the DMAX Super Cubes 5. Are you?

9. Mark is Back!

🇨🇦 Giving Good Vibes to Mark on Hifi – Welcome back brother.

10. Throw Your Best!

🇨🇦 Laugh out loud.

Hey eCoustics, thank you for publishing Good Vibes. I believe the audio community is GREAT and through encouraging others, learning, teaching and being vulnerable we can grow like never before. Yup, I don’t know it all, but I love learning and this community does too. Good Vibes is an attitude and action of gratitude; it’s also a management tool to navigate the social space. Thank you, peace and blessings today.

Doug Schneider – Yes. Good man.

Andrew Robinson – Not certain any more. Seems okay but there seems to be a tinge of the disingenuous, if you will. If others do not think so, fine. I do.

“Brand Ambassadorship” – No thanks. I do not need (my term) a “SELLEBRITYⓇ” telling me what they feel. I acknowledge that I could be wrong in some ways but I still do not care for this sort of shilling. I think of it as more often than not, a “ScambassordorshipⓇ”

Randy – Aka “The CheapAudioMan”. Yes. I have viewed
some of his stuff and find it entertaining and
    find it entertaining and informative.

    “Super Woofer” – Ridiculous. Just…ridiculous.

Darko – More Dorko and just another frAudiophileⓇ.
Could be mistaken for a variation on the super
    woofer. Ridiculous ad nauseam.

Those not mentioned are not mentioned as I have nothing either positive nor negative to state about them.

El posto scripto – Ken Kessler. He is excellent and a true writer. A good man.

All typos are mine and there because toads do not have opposable thumbs and so key boards a difficult for us.

      ORT,

I can only comment on those whom I know personally or worked for.

Doug is one of the best people in this entire industry and beyond honest. He gave me my start 23 years ago and I have nothing but praise for him as a person, leader, and mensch. He’s stayed in my home (when I still lived in Toronto) and we’ve travelled abroad together to cover shows. I would say that he is the benchmark for credibility and honesty.

Ken is also a wonderful guy. I love talking with him. He’s also not FOS like some others. I met him in 1998 at the Top Audio/Video Show in Italy and just liked him right away. It was Rosh Hashanah and we sat up late discussing audio and Jewish topics. He’s beyond knowledgeable and very kindly introduced me to Peter Qvortrup (Audio Note) and the late-Ken Ishiwata when I was a nobody.

      Just a kind guy.

      Best,

      Ian White

    Ian,

Doug and Ken are two of my favorite audio writers as are you and a (very) few more gentlemen out there in the interwebs and print world. There are more that I loathe than I like but that is the way of the world as I see it.

In all ways and for always, be well. Thank you.
