The convergence of art, music, and design will be on full display starting this week at New York’s Center for Italian Modern Art. Sonus faber has partnered with the Center for Italian for Modern Art for a six-month collaboration which includes a beautiful luxury product integration of its Il Cremonese loudspeakers with supporting equipment from sister brands Rotel, Pro-Ject and Bassocontinuo.
High-end audio can reach a very different audience when it participates in exhibitions such as this which honors iconic, Italian designer, Bruno Munari who passed away in 1998.
Between 1940 and 1959, Munari produced many objects for the Italian design industry; including light fixtures, ash trays, televisions, espresso machines, and toys. He was also an accomplished children’s author specializing in literature that promoted touch, movement, and color through tactile surfaces, textures, and cut-outs.
At a time when an emphasis on visual communication merges with society’s longing for beauty and restorative contemplation, Sonus faber will launch the partnership with CIMA by serving as its Exhibition Presenting Sponsor for the Bruno Munari Exhibition premiering this week.
Sonus faber will provide an added experiential element to the showcase and artist, adding luxury audio to enhance the sensorial experience.
The exhibition will showcase Munari’s multifaceted oeuvre to CIMA’s international and diverse audience. The show will be enhanced by special programming, among which multisensory art and music experiences that will bring together Munari’s visual language and the world of avantgarde music.
Laura Mattioli, the founder of the Center for Italian Modern Art, remarked “In partnership with Sonus faber, we are thrilled to present a fresh perspective on Bruno Munari’s oeuvre, bringing into the 21 Century the high craftsmanship, innovation and creativity that have been the hallmarks of Italian culture for centuries.”
“We are so proud to partner with CIMA and reestablish our synergy with artists and designers,” said Sonus faber Chief of Design Livio Cucuzza. “It is of the utmost importance for us to pay homage to Italian artisans and share their works with the world, specifically and especially to Bruno Munari, a pillar of Italian design and creative genius.”

“Life exists for the love of music or beautiful things.” – Gilbert K. Chesterton
Might the author of that wisdom have seen a glimpse of these prior to not just their making, but their conception and all that came before and after it? And with that brief look saw both of which he spake.
Some might say the works of mortal men of of little worth. I say not so when inspired by what lies beyond our mortality.
For those less inclined? Like the Doobies said, “…listen to the music”.
