Owners and prospective purchasers of Sennheiser’s high-end AMBEO Soundbar will be pleased to know they can now experience Sony’s immersive 360 Reality Audio. A new firmware update enables this feature, but that’s only part of of the story. You’ll need to find a streaming service that transmits music encoded in 360 Reality Audio. Currently, that’s available via nugs.net with additional services expected to follow. Then you’ll need to use Google Chromecast to get the music into AMBEO.
Sony’s 360 Reality Audio offers a captivating musical experience that places sounds such as vocals, chorus, piano, guitar, bass and even sounds of a live audience into a 360 spherical sound field. 360 Reality Audio works with any headphones and Sony’s new SRS-RA5000 & SRS-RA3000 Wireless Speakers.
“We are delighted our AMBEO Soundbar, with its amazing 3D immersive sound, now supports Sony’s 360 Reality Audio. Our customers can now stream music and enjoy exceptional spatial audio by simply downloading the latest firmware update without the need to purchase any additional equipment, for even more convenience.”
Maximilian Voigt, Product Manager at Sennheiser
Sennheiser’s AMBEO Soundbar offers 5.1.4-channel surround sound and powerful bass within an oversized sound bar. No rear speakers or a subwoofer is required. In addition to 360 Reality Audio, it is compatible with Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H and DTS:X. Thanks to its Upmix Technology, the AMBEO Soundbar can also recreate stereo and 5.1 content in stunning 3D audio. The soundbar features five different presets (movie, music, sports, news and neutral) tailored to a range of scenarios and content types, that precisely adjust not only the frequencies but also the 3D sound characteristics. Meanwhile, Sennheiser’s Smart Control App allows users to adjust acoustic settings via smart devices, including setting presets, personalizing the sound with the equalizer and selecting from three different AMBEO modes.
