Detailed Specs/Pricing Emerge for TCL’s QM7K QD MiniLED TV

With sizes up to 115 inches and fairly affordable pricing, TCL’s QM7K MiniLED TV will be one to watch in 2025.

TCL QM7K QD-MiniLED TV Lifestyle 2025

At this year’s CES, we awarded TCL’s QM7K MiniLED TV a Best in Show award for its combination of performance, features, impressive screen size and value. The “value” part was a bit of a leap of faith, but now that details have emerged on pricing of the new model line, we’re happy to say we were not disappointed. The QM7K offers strong picture performance at exceptional value.

The new QM7K, built on the popular Google TV Smart TV platform, will be available in sizes from 55 inches all the way up to 115 inches (diagonally) and will be priced starting at $1299 (details below). Note that these are MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price). Actual selling prices are normally lower, sometimes significantly lower. Also, street prices of these TVs over time may be impacted by potential tariffs, depending on which factories are used for final assembly of these TVs.

The new model features TCL’s new “Advanced Halo Control System” to reduce blooming and haloing around bright objects on dark backgrounds. It also features an all new sound system designed in partnership with high-end Danish audio brand Bang and Olufsen. We didn’t get a chance to check out the sound system when we saw it at CES, but hope to be able to give it a listen soon.

According to Chris Hamdorf, Executive VP, TCL North America, “TCL is not only a top 2 best-selling TV brand, we entered 2025 as the fastest growing TV brand in America, as awarded by Circana, and we don’t plan on slowing down any time soon. We are a leading player in the electronics industry, and our world class innovation is revolutionizing the way we apply picture technology and the benefits we bring consumers,”

TCL’s QM7K sports a new CrystGlow HVA panel with anti-reflective coating for bright room viewing, an improved MiniLED backlighting system and an elegant pedestal stand on select sizes. The Halo Control System offers improved color and gray scale accuracy, as well as virtually no blooming of bright objects on dark backgrounds on most material.

The new system’s Super High Energy LED Chip combines high brightness with increased light efficiency while a Super Condensed Micro Lens uses a narrower light path for more precise light control. It’s this lens design that reduces the optical distance between the backlight and diffuser plate in order to reduce blooming and improve off-axis color accuracy.

The set’s bi-directional 23-bit Backlight Controller enables over 65,000 levels of brightness for each MiniLED backlight module so gray scale accuracy and picture uniformity are improved over previous models.

  • Halo Control System
    • New Mini LED modules
    • New Super Condensed Micro Lens

The Bottom Line

Not content to sit at #2, TCL continues to innovate TV design while managing to hold the line on pricing. From what we’ve seen so far, the TCL QM7K should offer excellent LED/LCD picture technology at an affordable cost. It remains to be seen whether potential tariffs will impact the TV’s pricing this year, but with factories in many parts of the world, TCL has more options for manufacturing than many of its competitors.
