What Makes a Great Black Friday TV Deal?
The 2024 holiday shopping frenzy is underway, and there are plenty of cheap TVs from which to choose. But at eCoustics, we’re not too interested in the “Best TV Deals” unless they’re substantial discounts on TVs that’s actually worth buying. For us, a great Black Friday TV deal has to be a great price on a great TV that we’d own or recommend to family and friends.
Why Spend More on a TV?
While low cost LED/LCD TVs are practically a dime a dozen, there are good reasons to spend a bit more on a TV. Of course, size has a lot to do with it. Bigger TVs can give you a more immersive and cinematic experience at home and, all else being equal, larger TVs cost more than smaller TVs. 65 inches is currently the most popular TV size, but these days you can actually buy TVs up to, and even slight over 100 inches diagonally. And some of these are available at very attractive prices.
Also, certain technologies like OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) and MiniLED backlighting with local dimming can lead to higher quality images with better black levels, higher brightness and improved contrast. Quantum Dot color technology also usually commands a premium as it leads to richer, more accurate, more saturated colors. All of the recommended TVs offer native 4K/Ultra HD resolution. They also all support HDR (High Dynamic Range) so they can take full advantage of the highest quality UHD Blu-ray Disc and 4K streaming services.
Brand also matters. Buying from an established brand like Sony, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, TCL or Hisense can give you a bit more peace of mind that the company will support you after the sale and be around to support you in the future.
Most of these deals are actually manufacturer-authorized and non-exclusive, which means you can get similar deals from Best Buy or Amazon. In these cases, we’ll usually just provide the Amazon link below. One exception is the 48-inch LG B4 OLED TV for $599 which is a Best Buy exclusive.
Here are our recommendations for the best Black Friday TV Deals for 2024.
Best Deals on TVs Under 65 Inches
Hisense 55-inch U6 Series – $347.99 (Save $200)
The Hisense U6 Series is a high performance TV posing as a budget model. It includes MiniLED backlighting with local dimming, quantum dot color technology and 4K resolution for bright accurate pictures. It uses the Google TV smart TV platform for access to thousands of streaming apps and services.
The Black Friday deal offers $200 off the TV’s already low MSRP in the 55-inch size. The TV is also available in sizes up to 85 inches (currently $997.77 for the 85-inch model).
LG 48-inch B4 OLED TV: $599.99 (Save $200)
If you’re looking for something on the slightly smaller size (48 inches) for a bedroom or even a PC monitor, Best Buy has an exclusive deal on LG’s B4 OLED for $599.99 in the 48-inch size. With self-illuminating pixels, OLED TVs provide superior black levels and contrast to any LED/LCD TV. The B4 OLED TV comes with LG’s WebOS smart TV platform built in for access to all the popular streaming services and smart home integration.
This Best Buy deal offers $200 off the already low MSRP and is a great way to bring home that OLED picture quality from a name brand at a bargain price.
Best 65-inch TV Deals
TCL QM8 Series 65-inch TV – $998 (save $500)
When we reviewed the TCL QM8 MiniLED TV earlier this year, we thought it offered outstanding value and performance, besting more expensive models from the top TV brands. For those with “champagne tastes on a beer budget.” And that was at the $1499 list price. This week you can get it for under $1,000.
Its MiniLED backlighting can hit peak brightness over 4,000 nits and the quantum dot color layer provides rich, saturated colors. Based on the Google TV platform, the QM8 has access to all the top streaming services. It even includes an ATSC 3.0 “Next Gen TV” tuner for free reception of local channels in up to 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound.
65-inch LG C3 OLED TV – $1196.99 (Save $400)
Our recommendation for the best 65-inch OLED TV deal is to go for a 2023 model year TV. LG’s C3 OLED offers stunning contrast and black levels as well as vibrant colors that pop off the screen. And by going with last year’s model, you can save $400.
The built-in WebOS smart TV platform offers access to all of the top streaming services as well as integration with digital assistants like Amazon Alexa. Top-notch OLED performance at a bargain price.
Sony A95L QD OLED TV: $2,799 (Save $700)
If you want the best, be prepared to pay for it. But at least this week you can save a bit off the top. Sony’s A95L QD OLED TV consistently gets top marks from reviewers and even won the Value Electronics TV Shootout 2 years in a row. Its combination of high quality QD-OLED panel, industry-best video processing and fast responsive Google TV interface leaves most of the competition in the dust.
This week Amazon Prime subscribers can get the 65-inch A95L for $2799, which is $700 below the usual price. If you’re not a prime customer, the price is currently $2999.
Best TV Deals Over 65 Inches
TCL Q65 Class 98-inch TV: $1598 (Save $1400)
TCL is on a mission to sell over 100,000 98-inch (and up) TVs this year. And they’re doing it by packing in features and performance into huge TVs at bargain prices. TCL’s Q65 Class TV lacks the MiniLED backlighting found in their more expensive QM7 and QM8 TVs, but it does include quantum dot color technology for bright, punchy (and accurate) colors.
The Q65 is built on the Google TV platform for quick and intuitive access to the top streaming services and smart home integration features. And while it never sells for its MSRP of $2999, this Black Friday Deal price is about $400 below its normal “sale” price and $200 below its Prime Day price.
77-inch LG B4 OLED TV: $1596.99 (Save $1800!?)
OLED TVs typically carry a pretty hefty price premium over LED/LCD TVs due to superior black levels and contrast. But this week you can pick up LG’s B4 OLED TV in a 77-inch size for the same price that most 65-inch OLED TVs sold for last year.
Featuring 4K resolution, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support as well as LG’s WebOS smart TV and streaming platform, this extra large TV has a lot to like (including the Black Friday price). The MSRP of the 77-inch B4 is actually $3399, but the best price we’ve seen it for in the past is $1799, so the Black Friday price saves an additional $200 off that.
