Check out a store that sells used systems! I know GameStop gives a 1 year warranty on all used stuff which i have found out is better than Sony's service! So the disc read errors and the bad motors are covered for 1 year and i beleive they will replace it! the used prices are about 30-40 cheaper i beleive if you buy used! plus you get the old model and can get the HHD for FFXI and new socom maps!
You can find alot of good deals on ebay. If you are looking for the newest PS2 then Ebay is the best place to find it since alot of stores are sold out.
