Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2582 Registered: Aug-05 | anyways, i finally figured out why my amp was shutting off. but forgot to tell you guys, if you still care. lol when my engine goes over a certain RPM, the alt really starts pumping out the juice, and my mids and highs amp was designed to run between a certain voltage range, and the alt is giving the amp to much voltage. it didn't do this at first, but now that the alt is broken in, it is putting out more juice. sooooo, he is going to call the guy today to figure out how to keep it from shutting off when the voltage goes to high. we thought that by adding a Red Top that the power would be filtered better, but the alt guy said that it would raise the voltage even more!!! lol so we'll see what happens i guess. sorry i am not on here as much guys, but i am really busy at work with the Holidays coming up, and it is the last month of class too...not to mention the GF. lmao! |

Silver Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 490 Registered: Oct-05 |   they are se subs with xxx softparts. i don't think the softparts were changed by re though. the seller had score of 30 with 100% positive feedback so i trust that they sound good. he did get some glue on the dustcap while he was changing it but he did mention that. it has no affect on its performance. also the rms is 1400watts but i doubt that. i am thinking somewhere between 500 to 800wrms. |

Gold Member Username: Chaunb3400Huntsville, Alabama U.S. Post Number: 1469 Registered: Jul-05 | mine is on because i have a ported box, dont u have sealed. subsonic filters serve two purposes. one is to cut off frequencies below the tuned frequency of a ported or bandpass box to avoid the sub unloading and blowing itself up, and the other thing they do is prevent you from wasting energy trying to produce notes below the audible range that you won't hear anyway. if you have a ported or BP box, set the filter to the same frequency as the port is tuned. If the box is sealed, set it for 16-20Hz. |

Post Number: 2552 Registered: Jul-05 | i also use d ole stick n nail trick when i'm downstairs in my workshed & feelin lazy 2 run upstairs lookin 4 protractors -lol i think thats d way d cavemen 1st did it too -lol whenever i caulk any box i use those thin surgical gloves , pretty cheap . 1st time i ever used "Liquid nails" i used my bare hands & for like a few days i had 2 go about with it on my hands . So i had 2 keep my hands in my pockets during that time that time too . Most u can do is put enough so its guaranteed sealed ... Make sure u pre-drill the wood & use 2-2.5" drywall screws & also that Liquid nails adhesive i was talking about - that sh!t really works good ...... |
