I started by adding an Alpine CDE-9881, because my main concern was compatibility with my iPod and the ability to read MP3 cds. Then the itch kicked in for me to do the speakers, so I did some research and ask a few people who knew a lot about car audio and I ended up putting in 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 682.7CF 6x8 speakers. After that, It came down to a decision of how i wanted to go about putting a subwoofer in. Build a box or find something custom-fit? Well MTX did not disappoint me. I found a pre-fabricated, custom fit enclosure that fits 2 10" subs. I bought an Infinity Reference 1300a 300-Watt amp to get the subs goin, and I was ready to install. I already had the HU put in at bestbuy (free installation since i bought it there), I did the speakers myself, and I took the sub/amp to bestbuy and let them do it. I can handle simple wiring, but the task of getting the sub running was out of my league. The quality of sound in my truck has increased exponentially as a result of my upgrade and I'm starting to wonder why I waited so long to do it lol. Now, after all that, I have a question. My truck can be heard (clearly) halfway across the parking lot of Six Flags Great Adventure. But IN the truck, the voice is distorted due to the subs. What do I need to do to make the vocals come in clearly at higher volumes? Pics are coming soon. |

They fit so nicely under the jump seat. Good thing too because my friend had to sit back there on the way to Six Flags. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e256/senatorgleason/Subwoofers.jpg The amp fit nicely under the passenger side front seat. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e256/senatorgleason/AmpRear.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e256/senatorgleason/AmpFront.jpg After everything was up and running i put an Infinity and an MTX decal on the rear window. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e256/senatorgleason/DecalInfinity.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e256/senatorgleason/DecalMTX.jpg That's about it. Hope you enjoyed checking out my rude. Sorry for the messy carpet btw. The car wash and vacuuming is due next week lol. |

New member Username: SenatorgleasonNJ USA Post Number: 4 Registered: Aug-07 | I don't mind if it rains or freezes, as long as I got my plastic jesus riding on the dashboard of my car! That's the first thing i started singing when i put him up there. Btw. can anyone recommend a good car battery? I figure i'm gonna need a new one with the extra power drain from my stereo components. |
